My eyes slowly opened, adjusting to the bright lights of wherever I was. I was sprawled out on a few chairs..and I wasn't alone.
"Jon?" I was even more confused now. Jon sat in a chair right beside my feet, scrolling through his phone.
He snapped his head up when he heard me. "Hey Astrid, I'm glad your finally awake."
"What happened? And where are we?" I wondered.
"You passed out, which is understandable considering the situation we were all under," he sighed. "We're in the hospital, waiting for an update on Olivia."
That's when I remembered. Her party, her seizure, Grace screaming, and me passing out.,
"I-Is She Okay?!" I sit up quickly.
"Last I heard from the doctor, they're running tests on her and it would take a few more hours. They put an IV drip in you cause you were hydrated as well." Jon informed, and that's when I noticed the bandaid on my left arm.
"Where's everyone else?" I looked around the waiting room and didn't see any familiar faces.
"Matt and Jacob are at Olivia's house cleaning everything up, considering her house is trashed. Grace is on the phone with Olivia's parents, and I offered to stay with you." He explained.
"Thank you Jon. Really, thank you." I say gratefully. "I know things have been rocky between us but I'm lucky to have you as a friend."
Jon grinned, "Maybe someday I can turn into someone more."
"Another thing I'm grateful for is your sense of humor," I nudged him playfully.
"Cmon Astrid, you know how I feel about you, you know I'd treat you right. The only thing that's stopping you from making the best decision of your life is..you." He stated.
I was at a loss for words. As I stayed silent, he stood up and headed for the entrance of the ER.
"I'm gonna go see if there's an update on Olivia." He said before walking to the front desk.
Gosh, it didn't even feel like tonight had happened. But it did. Olivia was in the hospital.
He re appeared a few minutes later. "The nurse said Olivia's in her room resting right now. Their keeping her overnight, and we'll be able to visit tomorrow."
"I guess that's good..right?" I asked as we went and gathered our things.
"Yeah, that means she's doing better. I brought her flowers, but I'm not so sure she'd want them from me. All things considered." He lightly chuckled.
"She'd appreciate them, Jon." I assured, getting in his car. "She'd be happy to know that you cared."
Jon looked at me with an unreadable expression on his face. He got in the car and drove off in silence.
I tried calling Matt but kept getting no answer. Finally, I just texted him that I'd see him tomorrow at the hospital.
He pulled in my driveway and walked me to the front door.
As I dug my key out of my pocket, he cleared his throat.
"C-Can I ask you something, Astrid?" He sounded nervous.
"Sure.." I bit my lip, turning to face him.
"Is there something wrong with me?" He questioned. "Is that why you don't want to be with me?"
I shook my head, "No Jon of course not. It's not you, it's me..things are complicated right now. I'm with Matt, and I just don't want to hurt him-"
