"Can you tell me your topic for your article?" Max wondered.
"I'm writing about how our school should have credit recovery classes. Students are so busy with other extracurricular or sports, that if they miss one assignment, it sets them back farther and farther from passing and eventually graduating. Kids these days just want to graduate and begin working or going to college." I explained.
Max nodded, seeming to think about it. "Sounds very intriguing, I'd love for you to dig deeper, maybe interview some students and use that in your article."
My face lit up at his words. "Totally!"
"Good good, get to it kid." Max waved me away, beckoning the next student.
I skipped over to Matt giddily. "Guess whatttt? My article got approved to write! Yayyyy!"
"Congrats Astrid! That's amazing!" He cheered. "Now we definitely have to go to that ice cream shop after dinner and celebrate!"
"Looking forward to it..Hey, don't you have to get to practice?" I wondered.
His face fell. "Shit! Coach is gonna kill me!" He grabbed his bag and raced out the door.
I settled into my chair beside his and opened my laptop. I figured I could interview Jacob and Grace and use the material for my article.
After planning some more, I headed out to the football field to wait for Matt. And plus I'd get to watch him practice a little bit..
I took a seat on the bleachers and watched as him and Jacob ran through some drills together.
"Psst Astrid is that you?!" I heard a whisper from..below me?
I looked down and saw Jon standing there, cigarette on his lips.
"Jon what the hell are you doing down there?!" I exclaimed.
"Olivia always sneaks away during practice and comes to meet me here. We make out and smoke." He smirked. "So is she out there?"
I looked over to where the cheerleaders were practicing. I saw Grace leading the girls, and Olivia right by her side. She saw me looking at her and scowled.
"She looks pre occupied." I shrugged.
"Alright, looks like I'll have to settle talking with you. Hold on." He holds a finger up to me before walking off.
Great, he's gonna come up. Ugh.
He takes a seat right next to me, and stares right at me.
"Do you have a staring problem or something?" I raised an eyebrow at him.
"No..Your Just interesting to look at." He answered.
"Thanks..I guess?" I scrunched my nose.
"It was a compliment, so your welcome." He grinned. "So, How are things at the paper?"
"Fine, I got my article approved to write. Max told me to interview students and get their opinions on credit recovery classes." I explained.
"Hmm..I'll do it." He nodded.
"Uh..you'll do what?" I asked confusedly.
"I'll let you interview me." He shrugged. "For the good of the paper, why not?"
"Yeah, I wasn't asking you. I'm planning on interviewing Grace and Jacob." I informed.
"They're gonna agree of course because they know you. The article will sound a little biased to me..a great writer knows how to have a good balance in their pieces.." Jon pointed.
