"I havent heard from him in months vera"she whimpers out soaking her pillow "listen...." she sits on the side of the bed and places the younger girl's head on her lap. "Hes a sailor for gods sakes! Lilly your smarter than this, its sam we're taking about, the man is probably a cockroach he can live through anything"
"I just... i'm scared Vera, i joke about and say unloving things and he says them as well and i just wished he would just be a pilot and join the airforce at least they go to safe camps where i can just see his writting" she sits up pushing her legs to her chest "Lily he might have been under water for all those months, he probobly has writen so many letters he could publisha bloody book"she plays with he long dark brown hair.
"Vera"she sits up wipping her tears and taking a deep breathe and looks up "I'm pregnant" they sit in silence and she finally stands up "Lilly... CONGRATULATIONS"she jumps onto of the young girl and hugs her tightly, giggles fill the room "lets go tell everyone"she holds her hand and helps pull her up from the large bed "what if he's dead"Lilly whispers stepping back "what if hes not, write him a letter telling him the news! I knew he always wanted a child"Vera grabs a pen and paper that was lying on the desk and hands them to her "i remmember when our father's were the Great war he used to say that his dream would be to come back through it all and walk to his a house holding his bag, wearing his uniform and open the front gate and there would his son and daughter running to him yelling out 'daddy' and his beautiful wife would be there standing behind them holding a baby in her arms" she tells the past story to Lilly, "he always wanted a large family Lil... you don't understand how much he talked about you and wishes the day you would bare his children" she presses her full red lips together, they stand there just starring into one anothers eyes "write" vera breaks the silence while rasing her thick brows
"ok ok"she chuckles and walks over to the desk placing the paper onto the wooden table "We will be waiting for you to come down stairs" Vera says then closing the door

It's me... Lilly hope you did not forget, i know we haven't had much interaction but you will never understand how much fear is in me every day not hearing from you nor revising a letter, i understand you will not be on soil for a long time but i just need you to understand how much i have missed you, this will not be an easy letter i have always wished that i would be telling you this news as you were having breakfast that i prepared, while eating you would be reading the news paper, jumping out in joy at the confession i would have made.
well, I am pregnant I've only just realized but it is true, Vera gave me an entire back story of how much you've wanted many children, i have yet to know if i am bearing one but i hopefully will reasive more... how i wished would have told you face to face, i know that you only have a one pass to come home, so please do not waste it just now, I'll send you Photographs but please come in june, it is when I'm expected.
i can just imagine you coming off the train station and i am waiting for you with a swollen belly or with a new born between my arms, maybe we will call him Adam or if it's a girl Evelyn? It's up to you my love but i wanted to raise the concern of that you should become an airforce piolt you have the skills and the background for it... you will be able to send more letter and maybe you could send as well, It's all for your safety, if not for me then for the little baby.
