Not long after Connor had left, you found yourself in the room where Victor practiced many of his martial arts. You never knew specifically what and one day you had hoped he would teach you; the day would never come. You knelt in the centre of the room, wishing you could hug and kiss him the way he had done on that morning.

“What’s up with you?” you asked, not accustomed to the affection he was showering you in, especially on this particular morning. “Are you ill?” You chuckled as he wrapped his arms around you while you poured your favourite cereal into the bowl.
“I’m not ill,” he said, his hands tracing patterns on your stomach. Shivering, you set down the half-empty box of cereal and rolled your eyes.

“Victor please, I just want to eat breakfast, okay?” you sighed. He hummed, resting his chin on your head. “I promise we can do something later after work, sound good?” He left goof your waist and you grabbed the milk from the fridge to put just the right amount in your cereal. After putting it back and grabbing a spoon, you grabbed the bowl and headed to the couch to eat.

As soon as you finished your breakfast, Victor had enveloped you in a hug. It surprised you but he had been acting odd lately, maybe he was pretending not to be sick. Still, hugs were always nice. You relaxed into his embrace for a few moments. Even though you had been awake for a while, you had only just noticed his hair wasn’t tied back like it usually was. You ran your fingers through it, occasionally finding knots which you would gently untangle.

“I could stay here all day.”
“Call in sick,” he said. You sighed, wishing that you could.
“I wish I could,” you said quietly. “Maybe tomorrow, yeah?” He grinned, kissing your forehead and you smiled.
“Sounds great.” You tiptoed to kiss him on the lips before heading to the bedroom to shower and change before heading out to work in an hour.

“I’m going to work, okay, Victor?” He looked over and nodded, his hair now tied back. You found it amusing how his hair was longer than your own for some reason but you wouldn’t want him to be any other way, even if he could be irritating at times. “I might be back earlier today but I’ll see you later. Love you.”

Never did you imagine that would be the last time you spoke to him. You expected him to be back after you you were always first out and first back but when he didn’t return after a few hours, you had gotten anxious. Especially since he agreed to spend all night with you and the following day as well.

The man Connor believed he knew was not the man you knew. Connor knew only of his violence in their past and that was all he would ever know. Connor McLeod would never know how the two of you met, how you got to know each other, how he rarely spoke because of his voice. You missed the man Connor never knew and you still hoped he would walk through the door, greeting you with a silent nod or a kiss before making something to eat.

You still hoped he would come home.
