Since arriving at Allerdale Hall, you had found yourself growing sick of the darkness that seems to cloak it. Even white snow was tinted red. You had only agreed to go to Allerdale Hall because it meant so much to Thomas, your husband. If it was up to you – which it partly was, he had made that clear – you wouldn't have chosen to live somewhere much nicer then the North of England. It always seemed grey and dreary but if your husband was happy there, you wouldn't mind sacrificing that much for him.
"Lucille, I don't feel too well," you muttered. Your stomach had been cramping badly over the past few days. You had expected it to be nature but apparently it wasn't.
"A cup of tea might help," she said as she poured you a cup. You smiled and thanked her as you took the cup.
"I think I need to see a doctor." She smiled at you.
"They wouldn't be able to get here with the snow," she said. "We'll call a doctor when the snow has cleared in a few days."Thomas had walked in and his eyes lingered on the cup of tea you were holding before he nervously glanced at his sister. Maybe he was worried his sister couldn't make a cup of tea, they had been fine so far, if a little bitter.
At first, you thought you had caught something since you weren't quite used to how cold it was at Allerdale Hall. It wasn't helped by the gaping hole in the roof but cuddled next to Thomas with a roaring fire close by, you found yourself able to ignore the sorry state of the house.
"Have a cup of tea," seemed to be Lucille's answer to almost everything. She just seemed to be one of those people who really adored tea.
Until you found the poison.
"Thomas, I don't think your sister likes me very much," you said to Thomas one night while lying next to each other. He turned to face you, blue eyes staring at you with confusion.
"Why not?"
"She seems colder when I'm around." Everything felt colder with Lucille around.
"I'm sure she does like you, (Y/n)," Thomas assured as he pushed some of your hair out of your eyes.
"She's poisoning me, Thomas."Thomas frowned and pressed a kiss to your cheek.
"Thomas..."
"I'm so sorry, " he whispered. You furrowed your brow as you stared at him. "I am so sorry, (Y/n)." You coughed and covered your mouth with your sleeve, blood. Quite a bit of it.
"Am I going to die?" Thomas nervously glanced away and bit his lip. "Thomas... did you know?"
"Yes.""I love you, (Y/n), remember that."
"Your sister has been poisoning me!" you weakly exclaimed, coughing again. Thomas sat up and shifted closer to you so he could rap his arms around you.
"It doesn't mean I don't love you." You looked at him a sighed, you felt too weak to argue with the man you loved.
"I love you too, Thomas."
