Still, around the corner, there may wait, a new road, or a secret gate.

Kia's P.O.V

I woke up to the sound of One Direction blaring from the room opposite mine.

Lancer's.

Yeah, he's a BIG 1D fan.

You & I was playing loudly.

I groaned and rolled over in my bed.

My phone vibrated on my nightstand. I checked the caller ID.

Mason.

"What?" I asked, rolling on my bed.

"Hello to you too sunshine. Are you ready?" he asked.

I rolled again, "Ready for?" I asked.

"Meeting my parents..."  he said cautiously.

I rolled again, this time right off the bed.

"Oof!" I muttered some profanities under my breath.

"I completely forgot!" I said while getting up from the floor.

"You've got twenty minutes until dinner starts. Hurry." He said, sighing.

I groaned and went to the bathroom. "Um, are you picking me up?" I asked.

"Yeah. I'm on my way now. And did you just...fall off the bed?" he asked, amused.

I scoffed, "What? No!" I said.

"Sure. Hurry" was all he said before he hung up.

It was almost seven o'clock, the time of my appointed dinner with Mason's parents.

I quickly had a bath, brush my teeth and put on the dress we – he bought.

I curled my hair and applied some light make-up.

Grabbing my shoes, phone, and my purse I ran downstairs.

Much to my surprise, Mason was in the living room with my parents and Allion.

I didn't even hear him come.

At the end of the stairs, I slipped my heels on and put my phone in my purse.

I noticed my parents had him trapped on the couch, Mom on one end and Dad on the other.

Mom was busy complimenting him on his well-groomed eyebrows and Dad was still doing the weird glaring from this morning.

I groaned and went to rescue his sorry butt.

"Hey! Oh good, you're here! Let's go!" I exclaimed and tugged him up from the couch.

"Uh, Bye!" he waved and practically ran out of my house.

While walking to the car, I heard him mutter, "Thank God."

To say dinner with his parents was amazing is an understatement.

Well, aren't you already buttering up to the 'rents? Voice said.

Shut it before I poke you with a Q-Tip.

The dinner went something like this:

Once Mason and I arrived at his house, he took hold of my hand.

We walked towards the dining room where his parents were seated, waiting patiently for my arrival.

They looked like good people.
