THE NEXT DAY I WOKE up with a smile on my face. My eyes fluttered open, reacting to the bright sunlight filtering through the thin curtains. A small sigh escaped my mouth as my lips curved into an even larger smile. My mind rushed back to the moments of yesterday just to make sure it was real.

Yesterday, I healed wounds. I healed the wounds that I caused.

My fingers find the edge of the covers, and I push it off myself, getting up. My bare feet touch the cold floor, and I wince from the shock. The shock doesn't only come from the cold, however. The shock comes from the fact that I finally felt it would be a good day. I gingerly place my feet on the ground and shuffle over to the bathroom.

Only one thought is in my mind:

It will be better.

"Good morning," I chirp when I see Daniel.

The surprise on his face is visible as he says, "Hey."

"Oh yeah, I finally woke up," I say while the same smile curves my lips.

"Well," he says, wrapping me in a hug, "that's great." Pulling away from me to look at my face, he adds, "I don't like you when you're not awake."

"Neither do I," I reply, frowning momentarily.

Arm in arm, we walk to the coffee shop downstairs to meet the rest of the gAnG.

We push open the large oak doors of the homey cafe. My eyes immediately land on the couch where they sit and argue. I start to walk forward but Daniel stops me, mouthing, "Just watch."

"There's only one more banana nut muffin, guys," the waitress, Jennie, says to Jack and Zach.

"Oh, okay. Well, it's mine," Jack says decisively, grabbing the muffin. Knowing what will likely entail, Jennie runs back behind the counter away from the drama that will obviously happen.

"Um, no. It's mine. I ordered first," Zach replies, glaring at Jack.

"You know what, you want it?" Jack asks Zach who nods. "You can have it." Jack quickly licks the top of the muffin before handing it to Zach. Disgusted, Zach pushes it back to Jack.

"Fine," Zach says, looking at what I assume to be Jack's coffee. He grabs the cup and licks the rim, saying, "Now you can have your coffee."

"That was here when I got here," Jack says nonchalantly, picking apart his muffin.

"That's why it tastes like strawberry lip gloss," Zach says, smacking his lips together before gagging. A playful smirk dances on Jack's lips.

I never realized how much we're like a sitcom sometimes. We are literally enacting "Friends" right now. We're in a coffee shop in New York City that has a punny name, Statue of LiberTea, and the waitress knows us. Life's just a big metaphor isn't it?

Holy shit, are we like Ross and Rachel?

Shoving the thought from my mind, I walk forward towards them and drop down on the seat next to Jonah.

"Hey," I say with a smile on my face.

"Hey there," Jonah says with an equally big smile on his face, nudging my shoulder.

I break our stare to see Jack silently asking Daniel if we're together.

"Yeah, we are," I say, looking back at Jonah. "And I'm not gonna let go anytime soon."

"Then neither am I," he says with a dorky chuckle.

Lmao yeah I stole from Friends. Oh well.
