Betrayal

You thought it would be fine,
To ditch me right when you said you loved me,
You promised me sincerity,
That you'd always be there for me,

But clearly you didn't realise,
How much promises mean,
Best friends are supposed to stick together,
And help each other stand when they fall,

But you didn't ,

You left me,

Broken,

With no warning,
When I was most vulnerable,
Because she captivated you,
She could give you what I couldn't,
You played with my heart,
And broke something that will never be mended,

You shattered my heart,
My trust,
The little self-worth I had,
All because of her,
And left me as a shell to fade in the dust,

Did I ever mean anything to you?
Did you ever really care?
Or were they all words to you,
To say but never mean,

You were only with her for a month,
Then you got bored of her,
You approached my weakened frame,
And told me you missed me,
And that she made you do it,

But deep down I knew better,
Than to trust you again,
But you charmingly manipulated my trusting self,
Did it amuse you to watch something so innocent suffer?,

I knew it was coming,
You retracted everything you said,
And again stabbed me with your old self,
What you said you'd changed never really went away,
And again when you remembered how sincere I was,

How I tried so hard to be a good friend,

And to forgive you,

You came back,
I knew you would try again,
They say that third time's a charm,
But not for this,
I knew what you really were,
And I wasn't going to let you break me again,

So I said goodbye,
I'd had enough of your lies,
And somehow I knew,
You'd never really miss me,
I'd just fade away into your distant,
Insignificant memories,

I know we were young then,
And you've probably forgotten I exist,

But I haven't,

I remember,

It sometimes haunts me in my sleep,
That my true friends could one day do,
What you did to me,
But they believe in me,
And I believe in them,
You never believed in me,
I was just another girl,
Just another toy,
For you to play with,
And that's why even though you said all those years ago you'd try,
You never made it up to me,
