CHAPTER 13

OSCAR
The following day, I drive off to work, ready to confront my slut of a PA but shock is on me when I find a letter on my desk.

She shamelessly states that she has resigned and she'll be expecting that month's salary in her account.
Good riddance!
I breath in and out, hoping the worst is just over.

I recall the very first day, four years ago and I met her seated at the corner next to my gate, with bloody and tattered night dress.
I remember how our conversation went that day.
"Hey lady? Who are you? What happened to you?"
I remember vividly, listening to her narrate her ordeal in the hands of her cheating hubby, how I accompanied her to the said house and the husband literally threw her bag to us, raining obsentities to us.
How I took her to my house, introduced her to my wife and she was kind enough to accept her in her matrimonial house.

Look how she has run out of gratitude!

As time goes by, Sasha is forgotten. She doesn't make her threats of posting a the photos in the internet.
It's like she got some sense, after all.
      ************
August is here and the dowry paying ceremony is conducted without any hitches. We now have our parents blessings to get married.

We set the marriage date to be on December, two days before Christmas and everybody is cool with that.

Back to the city, Sandra resumes her classes and I continue with my daily routine. Sasha has vanished into thin air and I pray to God that she vanishes for good.
No phone calls, no texts, no whatsapp messages.

Our love blossoms, each day being a new day in our lives.
Sandra is a charming girl and she makes my days better especially when I've had a long day in the office.

The HR confides to me that Sasha has started her own company, exactly the same as mine. As long as she didn't steal from me, then she can do whatever she wishes.
            ***********
I get a call from Sandy one evening, telling me that she has received an envelope with instructions that she shouldn't open it until she gets home.

I start sweating, knowing that Sasha has resurfaced and she's up to no good.
"Don't open it till I strive swiry!"
I soothe her.
"It's okay! "

" I love you! "

I call her all through out the journey as I drive. I just want to make sure that she doesn't open the envelope or else I'll be doomed!

I drive home hastily, like a maniac, not worrying about the traffic rules. I have a relationship to salvage!

Sandy is pacing up and down the garage, waiting for me. She looks nervous and I just pray that she hasn't opened the package.

"Where's the envelope?"
I ask her curiously as she leads me inside the house, then upstairs.
She has already placed it on the dressing table, waiting  for me as I instructed her!
She's such an obedient girl!

Immediately I see the handwriting on the envelope, I know it's Sasha's!
So she has resurfaced?
I'm sure those are our photos in there but starting to explain to a girl who's deeply in love with me that I was spiked and the photos were taken when I was almost dead won't be easy!

I know I have to take advantage of her naivety!

" Don't open this honey! A business associate of mine opened one just three days ago and he lost sight instantly."
I lie smoothly.

" What?"
She screams as she pushes the envelope towards me on the table.

"You even messed up when you picked it with your bare hands!"
I add, making things look real.
A man has to lie so as to redeem himself uh!

She runs to the bathroom and I can hear some water running from the tap.
I pick some gloves and wear them then pick the envelope, just to fool her.

I hide it in my study and lie to her that I'll burn it in the morning.
That's how I escape a second divorce!
