I forced the table away from me, it had been holding me in place like a prisoner. It's rounded wood shifting and changing into sharp, pointed needles that imprisoned me against the sticky leather seat. I pushed it so harshly that it hammered Adrian forcefully in the gut, knocking the wind out of him with a loud 'oomph'.

Once I was free I stormed out of the café, my chest feeling tight. With each breath it felt like someone was wrapping their strong hands around my lungs and squeezing the air out of them. It wasn't until I was outside that I was able to take deep gulps of air.

I leaned against the wall outside of Café Monèt trying to calm myself down, but nothing that I tried seemed to be working. I slid down the wall, resting my head in my hands. I had no idea what that was, that sensation that overtook me. I felt dizzy. All that I could manage to focus on was the brunette waitress that had come over to take our order.

"What the hell is up your arse?"

I jumped as Adrian's stern voice pulled me from deep within my thoughts. I  pulled myself to my feet and shoved all of the strange emotions and fears that were dancing around in my head into a box. I imagined locking the box and throwing away the key. All of my emotions and confusion could be dealt with later, right now I needed to give off the perception that I was completely fine.

Noah walked out of the café, concern and bewilderment clearly crossed over his youthful features as he peered at me. "Are you okay?"

I cleared my throat. "I'm just not feeling great all of a sudden but I'll be okay." I told him, wanting to calm his worries. I could feel that my cheeks were heated, both from my stress and from the morning sun that was beating down on me.

I rested my hand over my eyes, shielding them from the sun as I peered past the town centre and deep into the trees beyond. The sun was filtering through the tall limbs that swayed in front of the beautiful back drop that was the cloudless blue sky. The landscape, although reminded me how far away I really was from home right now brought me comfort. My pack, where I wanted to be, where I belonged. Thoughts of home calmed my racing heart and I found myself breathing easier.

A lady walking by, tripped on an un-even ledge on the path, dropping her wallet. I reached up, passing it to her. "Thank you," she smiled but she paused as she took in my sullen demeanour. "Are you alright sweetheart?"

I nodded, offering her a tense smile.

"You boys should get out of this heat," she suggested. "Get under that aircon inside the Cafe." She smiled as she continued on her path, watching her footing a little more carefully.

Just the small interaction with the lady reminded me of how despite my love of home, the human world called to me. It was a desire that had been growing in frequency lately. There was something about the unknown world that had captured my interest, something that I was intent on exploring.

Adrian was drumming his fingers on his crossed arm, an obvious tick that he was feeling impatient. I faced him, to which he grinned at me. "Let's get the hell out of here, it stinks of humans." He flared his nostrils for dramatics.

"Are you going to hang around the uni?" I asked, focusing on Adrian was a good distraction for the sick feeling in the bottom of my stomach. "It's orientation day, lots of new girls will be there."

Adrian starred at me as he shrugged. He'd always had a strong disliking for humans, he simply believed that they were the lesser race but just like everything else in his life, he still found a way to take advantages of them. He doted on human females, using his keen advantages to get into their pants.

It was one of the saddest things I'd ever seen. He would force the human girls softly into submission. Humans submitted easily to us, giving us the opportunity to convince them to do as we pleased.

For a moment, I considered telling Adrian to find his own way home, therefore I wouldn't be enabling his choices. With a sigh, I gave in. "Come on," I encouraged using the wall to push my shaky feet forward. "The taxi is taking off."

Adrian laughed as he and Noah allowed me to lead them towards my car. "Maybe I'll tip you this time, driver." Adrian teased as he slid into the passenger seat.
