Half Asleep

Luke’s POV

I was laying on my side, neck arched over to see the movie.

My eyes kept dropping down, even though I told myself not to fall asleep.

Cheating myself, I resorted to blinking very slowly.

Eventually, I give up in and tugged the covers over my shoulder and shut my eyes for the night.

Cass must’ve not noticed, because she continued to watch the movie.

I peeked my eyes open and sneaked looks of her smiling at the TV.

I was about to fall asleep when the mattress shifted underneath me, and the faint voices of the TV faded out.

I realized that Cass had turned off the tv, and was playing music from her laptop.

After shifting around, she lays down onto a pillow next to mine.

She flips over to sleep on her side, facing me.

I always found it funny about the way we slept.

I slept on my left side, Cassy on her right.

Conveniently, that always left us facing each other.

It was also a better way for me to cuddle her while sleeping.

Unlike the other times, where it was more of a friendly whoops-I-fell-asleep-with-my-arm-around-you- because-I’m-a-cuddler kind of thing.

This time, it felt more... I don’t know... filled with electricity.
