Cassidy’s POV

My whole body started to ache.

I didn’t understand that until now.

That you could actually get sore from lying down for a long time.

Luke’s arm was draped around my side.

I tilted my head up.

His soft lips were parted, showing a tiny bit of teeth.

His lip ring was gone, leaving a small mark of his piercing.

A few minutes later, Luke shifts his body.

I take this chance to slip out of bed and check my phone.

10:42 AM.

I brush my teeth and sort through the towers of sweaters, hoodies, t-shirts, and miscellaneous things in my closet.

I put on a red plaid button down, black skinny jeans, and a grey hoodie.

A black bag slung across my chest.

Pulling my hair back into a braid, I find an abandoned pair of socks.

I tried to balance on one foot while putting on a socks when I start to tip over.

Clawing the air for something to hold me up, I fell to the ground of my closet with a small squeal, only to have an avalanche of clothes bury me.

I dig myself out to only sigh at the cluttered and messy aftermath.

Neatly folding and hanging the clothes, I wait for Luke to wake up from my noise.

But the air is still and quiet.

By the time I sorted everything out, I have to admit, it looks better than it was before.

I was about the shut the door, when I noticed there was a t-shirt laying helplessly on the floor.

Bending over, I yank it up and give it a small wave, getting rid of any dust it collected.

Something comes tumbling underneath it, bumping right into my foot.

A teddy bear.

It had light brown fur, and brown eyes.

A little heart was sewn onto it’s hand.

I pick up the abandoned bear and trace my fingers on the soft fur.

Luke had given it to me on my sixteenth birthday.

I didn’t have a party or anything.

Just a relaxing day.

My parents were at work, like usual, and called to wish me a happy birthday.

Same went for my brothers and friends.

I had told everyone to not get me anything, I didn’t want them to hassle around for a gift.

I convinced them to stay home, no dropping by, no more calls or texts, so I could have the house all to myself.

But of course, Luke didn’t listen and let himself in.
