She finally decided to get out of her room, pull herself together, and accept the fact that she lost the battle. Unhappily, her feelings for him were still there. They say the girl never forgets her first love, but in her case, it was more like a first heartbreak than a first love. Because, she didn't enjoy being in love. All she got from it was pain and sorrow. Nevertheless, she tried to stay strong, knowing that life doesn't stop after one break down. It keeps going on, and all we can do is get along with it. She knew it wasn't easy moving on, but she decided to give it a try. Before that, she knew she owed him an apology. She called him several times, but in vain. Until that day when one of their friends had a party at his place. She knew he'd be there, so she thought that it would be the perfect time for her to make things right. So she went to the party. As she got there, the party had already started. She saw him sitting with a bunch of guys, drinking and talking. She moved towards them. She said hi, they said it back and got back to what they were doing. She wasn't surprised by the cold welcoming, she knew he would ignore her. Luckily, a friend of hers yelled at her, saving her from the awkwardness of standing there alone. They talked for a moment then the girl left to see some other friends, leaving her alone again. At that time, Emily went back where the guys were sitting, Stared at him then said:

“Ethan, Um... Can we talk for a minute?” Her voice was shaking.

“Oh, look who's here! Hey Emily...” Glanced at her with a fake smile.

“Please?” She said.

“Sure, excuse me guys, I'll be right back” He stood up, “After you, miss.” Then said in a mocking tone.

They walked out, it was loud and noisy in there, so they went to the porch where it seemed to be quieter.

“I'm listening.” He said, serious as ever.

“Well, I brought you here because I wanted to talk, in order to make things clear and...”

“Get to the point!” He interrupted her.

“Well, I know that what I've done was stupid. I'm here to apologize.”

“Hm…” He shook his head and before he said anything, she managed to get closer to him then added, “I missed you, Ethan! ... I never intended to lose you. I love you, I will always love you.” She put her hands around his neck, trying to pull him towards her. Then moved her lips up to meet his.

“Emily, stop! ... What's wrong with you? Don't you get it?” He said furiously. “I thought you're here to apologize.” He added.

“I am.”

“Great. Then do it, and leave!” He commanded, frowning.

“Okay, I’m sorry.” She hardly said the words.

“Good, now you can go.” he responded, impassively.

“Alright, but before I go, I want to know if you forgave me. So did you?” Her tears started to flow.

“Oh, Emily, please save the drama... And don't worry, I already forgot about it. And that's exactly what you should do.” He said, then went back to the living room where his buddies were sitting. As for her, she walked through the door, and left.

She didn't know how she really felt then, but it released her to know that she tried one more time, even if she wasn't really happy with the closure. Deep down, she knew that there was no chance, not even a small one, so she gave up trying, even though she couldn't get rid of the feeling that was consuming her. So her story ended here. She buried the feeling deep in her heart, and she continued her life.
