I would like to apologize early as I do not know how does the recruit works properly as I only remember the part where the soldier was summoned for war from Mulan's movie so this is based on my imagination. I will try to imagine it as close as possible to the real-life one. Also, the image above is how I want Ying Yue (Yin) to be seen. But with Red hair and eyes.

Also, shoutout to @Ph03nyxx for helping with correcting some errors

Ying Yue was nervous. She held onto Blaze's rein and unconsciously squeeze it as she approaches the table where an officer was signing up the new recruits.

When it was finally her turn, the officer in charge which was the First Squad's Captain Zhu was surprised to see Ying Yue who was wearing the silicone decorated mask.

No one could help but look at Ying Yue suspiciously as this was the first time they'd seen someone wearing a mask. However, the captain drives the thought away and asked the questions as the procedure states.

"Name?" he asks and stares at Ying Yue.

"Yin" Ying Yue replies. In order to make her start from the bottom, Ying Yue told her family and the Emperor about how she will debut as a soldier named Yin who is going to be a 15-year-old orphan boy who suffers from a terrible fire during young which is why she has to wear the mask or else people believe they would get disturbed at the sight as it was too horrible to look at.

She introduces herself as Yin with no problem and when asked about her skills, she confidently answered Swordsmanship, Horse Riding, Archery, and Kung Fu.

The captain believes this as he senses that this Yin character was quite a person as even everyone around them couldn't help but look at him. Maybe because of his red hair and red eyes but it was also because of his strict posture which made him look like a reliable man who knew how to discipline himself.

"Alright, just get your things ready and we'll start the exam soon." the captain hands Yin a small wooden plank that had a number 19 and points where she should go.

(Please notice that Yin is referred to as a male by others but Ying Yue will refer to Yin as a female. This is because Ying Yue created Yin so they would all treat her equally as men instead of being judgmental because she is a girl.)

Yin choose to set up her camp the furthest from the rest and easily put her items in order before changing to training gear where she wrapped herself with a bandage until her figure was hidden and got ready to the training ground where some people were already waiting.

Some of the men were older than Yin but there were also those close to her age. And to Yin's surprise, there was a girl that seems to be around her real age (13 years old) joining the recruit.

Yin was excited but decides to play this out slowly by being friends with her first however there were already guys around her who seems to have annoyed her.

The girl was quite a pretty one and though she looks tough because she was also pretty the men couldn't help but want to tease her. She had orange hair and light brown eyes.

Yin approach the scene but before she could do anything, another man appear beside the girl managing to effectively scare the men off and sigh at the girl.

"Ting Ting, I thought I told you not to play around anymore. Please leave now as this is not a playground", the man said. He has dark orange hair and the same light brown eyes as the girl.

The girl now known as Ting Ting glares at the man and declares "I know this is not a playground and I am not here to play myself brother Ting Yi. Please leave me alone or else I do not know what I will do to you"

Ting Yi was already a skilled soldier who had the rank of vice-captain judging by the plate he wore by his shoulder. It seems that their family was one that produce warriors as even Yin herself could see that Ting Ting indeed wanted to prove herself.

By the time the exam started, Yin easily excel the tests one by one that everyone at the training ground would look up to him now.

For the Kung fu and Swordsmanship, the captain himself wanted to fight with Yin and though the captain won in the end, Yin manage to get the captain's sword to fly out from his grip and got the captain to fall twice before he could emerge as victorious.

Yin couldn't win against the captain's brute strength however he manages to portray he could easily defeat those twice his size with wisdom.

By the time the exam ended, Yin had scored to be No.1 of all the 50 recruits present. While Ting Ting was the seventh strongest new recruit.

Those that were displeased were given the chance to fight with Yin to prove the examiners wrong and one of the new recruits named Zao who had a big built and was purely muscles challenged Yin but Yin became victorious when she manage to get Zao to land flat on his back with Yin's sword near his neck.

Yin's cold glare was so vicious, Zao had gone frozen and immediately accepted his defeat. After that nobody wanted to challenge Yin anymore.

By the end of the day, Yin returned to her tent and was tired however she forces herself to carry a huge wooden bucket to the nearest river and carried it back to her tent so she could clean herself. When other soldiers spotted this and asked Yin why didn't he shower at the river instead, he replied that his body was covered in burns and that he was more comfortable bathing in his space as he was afraid the others would not be in the mood to shower in the same water he was in.

With that, Ying Yue's identity as Yin was secretly kept. She even made sure there was nobody could see her figure with the light out the tent as she showered with the bandages on.

It was a good thing I brought a lot of bandages from home, Ying Yue thought.

Notes:

So, this is how I portray the structure to be for the story based on my imagination and a bit of research from google. There are actually quite a lot however it was too long so I shortened it to 7 stages which are:

Soldier (Lowest), Vice-Captain, Captain, Lieutenant Colonel, Colonel, Lieutenant General, General (Highest)
