I kick a small stone as we walk across the unpaved farmlands. The sun was starting to come up but a beautiful cross breeze felt good against the nerves that were building up. Pierce walks next to me, dragging his feet.
"What are you nervous about?" I ask. I've never seen him so quiet.
"What if she doesn't want to see me?" he asks and I shake my head. "Then she doesn't want to see you but we at least know she's alive. I'm sure it won't be that way though." I try to reassure him but he shakes his head.
"No, something doesn't feel right." He says.
"Be on your guard then," I tell him.
We reach the house and stand outside for a few moments. I look at my screen map. The green dot was glowing right in front of us.
"She's here." I look over at Pierce. He takes in a deep breath and lets it out in a small whistle.
"We came all this way," He says and takes the necessary steps forward. Standing in front of the door I knock for him.
Silence.
"Maybe she's not here after all." He shrugs but we hear a shuffling of footsteps and the door opens.
