IT was a sunny Friday morning, and you were outside the monastery, trying to pry the cherished secret of what power you possess out of Sensei. "Sensei, this is getting frustrating! How am I supposed to prove that my parents were wrong if you won't let me learn the way to supposedly 'defeat evil'?"

"Patience, young one," he answered once again, sipping his tea on the stairs. You let out a huff of frustration. "Now, back to meditating." He instructed, and your hard glare softened, and your eyes fluttered closed.

"Look, it's the weird girl." a voice teased from outside of your view.

"Just don't look at her," another voice whispered, but you didn't listen, you just let the words become a fragment of the wind.

"Why can't she just be normal?"

"She's so weird!"

Despite the hurtfulness of the words, you remained calm and collected. Your breaths were even and relaxed, you could do it if you just tried.

"Don't worry Y/N, we'll always be right here."

Those exact words made your eyes fly open, revealing the darkness. Your breathing became ragged and uneven, scared and short. That was the voice of your mother, after you had gotten lost in the park.

Your parents found you eventually, next to the swing, and promised never to leave you again. Lies. It was all a lie.

"Well done little flower, we're so proud of you!" Your father had cheered to you when you first rode your bike without stabilisers. You remembered it perfectly. It was a pretty pink bike, with rainbow tassels that you'd play with when you were nervous, or when you were upset.

"Y/N, you know she didn't do it on purpose," the stern words of your mother after you had shouted at your friend, due to the fact that she had 'accidentally' knocked over her water onto your painting because it was better than her's.

"Just stay here for a minute flower, we need to run and grab something from the store, we'll be back soon!" the last lie your parents ever made you believe. The one where they had left you. Hot tears now dripped rapidly down your tinted cheeks, your hands shaking in fear.

You took a deep breath, stabilising your breathing and heartbeat. You closed your E/C eyes, your eyelashes fluttering closed. "It's not real. You're not here anymore." you whispered to yourself, calming your nerves. You closed your eyes once more, putting all of your focus into staying calm.

A flash of N/C appeared, but it was gone as fast as it came, and all of a sudden, you were back in reality. You gasped, "What's wrong, Y/N?" Sensei's familiar voice asked quietly.

"Uh, nothing."

It wasn't the voices that were new, no, you had heard them plenty of times, it was the short flash of N/C that cut you off from your 'dream'.

"Alright then. You may begin the training course."

You frowned, but not in anger, more in confusion. Your Sensei was the person you looked to for guidance, but here he was, giving you none. He noticed your worried and confused look, and gave you a small smile in assurance, "The time will come, Y/N, just be patient,"

His words made your face soften in satisfaction.

You smiled at your Sensei, his expression reflecting yours. "Now, I must get going, I have somebody to talk to," Sensei excused himself, rising from his seat on the step. "Is that so?" you smirked, placing your hands on your hips. "Yes," he answered shortly, taking a walking stick off of the floor.
