Gemma Parker was bright and bubbly, and lived life on the edge of things. She couldn't be tamed, nor settle for things. At least that's how she justified her failed teaching career and all failed relationships. Gemma wanted that rush, and typically, always wanted something new.

While working a job, she crosses paths with Evan Buckley, another firefighter from another station. Upon meeting him, she knew she was in trouble. Around this time, he decided to move on from Abby and Gemma decided to make her move on him. It was beautiful, truly, at first.

But Gemma knew, his last relationship changed him and they wanted totally different things. She left. He felt heartbroken from yet another failed relationship.

Oddly enough, Gemma felt heartbroken too. She really felt something for Buck, but her need for new things refused to let her settle down. Maybe they could have worked, had she not screwed it up.

- a lot of this books revolves around Gemma learning how to change and Buck's heartbreak
- if they end back together, that's totally up to the author bc I see it both ways
