Plot ↴

Nani Mahelona was just sixteen-years-old when her world was suddenly flipped— with the death of her father. As if her anxiety isn't bad enough at home, she faces a whole new set of challenges when she's forced to move to Continental United States with her god-father, Caleb Grimm. Honestly though, Nani isn't the only one that's facing a new adventure.

Caleb was still grasping the ropes of being a father to his kids, and now he had to parent a teenager too. He always thought that he had a few years until that time came, but like life usually is, it throws a curveball that is unexpected. Things weren't easy when a teenager was thrown into the mix that was the Grimm's lives.

Nani and Caleb, and the rest of the Grimm family; must be brave and face the new challenge present before them. It won't be easy, things rarely are, but then again, God is always on their side.

- at the beginning, she does not know Christ
- her father was an atheist since her mom left

- and Caleb was named godfather at Nani's birth
- but Nani never knew of Caleb
- it was her aunt who called Caleb when her dad died
- so she moves to Tennessee, and that bumps up her anxiety levels high
- Nani learns to be a sister in the Grimm home with the boys (and Collins depending on timeline)
- Caleb also teaches Nani the ways of Christ
- which she accepts, because her dad never told her about the bible
- her newfound faith does not erase the anxiety, because it is a common symptom of ADHD; she will have that for life
- however, her anxiety levels are high bc she's in a new place with no family
- so this all sort of slow burn, with her faith and learning to adjust to a new place
- She will also become close to Stella, the youth pastor at the Grimm's church towards the end
- story can end however the author pleases
