Ryder's pov

This an absolute long night, when Octavia called me I knew she was drunk. I was happy she called since all I was doing was paperwork for my company. Once I heard her say that guys name though I just lost it and plus she hung up on me. I drove to her house and seen tons of cars parked along the street. I drove directly in front of her house and parked.

When I see that guy holding her like that I swear I seen red, he looked oddly familiar though. But, when she told me hi she sounded so happy which almost helped diminish my anger. Once we were finally alone I kissed her with so much passion, I wanted her to know I cared deeply for her. This girl had me crazy about her, literally. I didn't like that I kissed her when she wasn't sober but, I needed to.

I had noticed her dress which looked amazing on her, she was so beautiful. When we finally made it inside I met Liam, hate him. I now remembered him from the picture Octavia has in her room. I seen her brother absolutely hammered but his girlfriend took care of him, they sort of reminded me of Octavia and I. I also caught Octavia staring way to long at Liam in which I withdrew my hand from hers being pissed.

I hated that her and Liam seemed to share something unspoken between them. I remember Octavia telling me he was just a friend but, something told me they were more at some point. As I listened to their conversations I learned Octavia has a very sarcastic attitude that I've found myself smiling at. I didn't want her drinking anymore though, she was already so drunk. Plus I wanted to sober her up and maybe talk with her.

Except Liam just had to offer her a drink which she accepted. Just the thought of them alone drinking and talking together, angered me. Octavia must have noticed since she led me from the kitchen to her living room where lots of people were.

"Hey watch where you're going would you!" A guy yelled at Octavia.

I didn't think, this move was just out of instinct and anger as I shoved him against the wall. Who the hell did he think he was. I was brought back to reality when she touched me though.

It was calming, "It's okay." her soft voice rang through my ears.

I know she told me I didn't have to do that but, I did, no one will ever talk to her that way. Especially if I'm there.

I will always protect her.

"Yes I did no one talks to you like that, especially not in front of me." I replied softly and tucked some hair behind her ear.

I caught her eyes and stared into them as I kissed her lips and she did the same back. It felt so amazing to kiss her, to let everyone in this room know that she was mine.

Sadly she broke away, "Um, we still need to clear the house and clean up." she laughed, her cheeks flushed a light pink.

"I know love." I said, she backed away holding my wrists in her hands, I loved the feel of her skin against mine.

"I'm going to see if there's anyone upstairs, will you get everyone from downstairs out of the house please?" she asked, breaking into a smile.

She's so drunk it's cute, but I wanted her by my side at all times so I'm not sure.

"I'm just going to be upstairs." she said, as if reading my mind, I sighed and nodded.

I started telling people that the party was over and to leave. While everyone was leaving some people came from upstairs making their way out the door. Which I was by, seeing everyone off so I could shut it after, when Maya came over to me.

"Hi, I'm Maya Winters." she introduced smiling softly, I wondered why she was introducing herself but, sensed that her approach was friendly.

"Hey, Ryder Salvatore." I introduced myself friendly, normally I'm not to anyone I don't know except Maya seemed to be important to Octavia.

"Liam told me what happened." she spoke, probably about the incident earlier.

"Look-" I replied, I didn't want her to think I was violent.

It seemed her opinion might matter to Octavia. Even though I somewhat am, I would never be violent with Octavia.

But she interrupted me, "Do you care for Octavia?" she asked.

"Of course I do, a lot." I said honestly, her eyes searched for a lie but she would find none.

Maya then nodded and smiled, "Well then will get along great."

I'm glad Octavia had friends who cared for her so much. I only smiled while the last person made their way out and I shut the door. As if on cue Octavia came from upstairs in grey sweatpants and plain shirt on. It was so natural it felt like heaven, she made it to the end of the stairs, slipping into my arms to hug me. I wrapped my arms around her and brought her closer to me.

Maya was gone down the hallway by then when Octavia's voice cut through my thoughts, "Do you have to leave soon?"

"No, I'll leave when you want me too." I said and kissed her head.

She lifted her head and smiled at me, "Then you'll have to live here." she said laughing a little.

Could she get any cuter?

Then I got to thinking, this girl in my arms really had all of me. I didn't think I could have such a special person in my life.

Everything was just perfect in this moment.
