Ice cold migraine

There is nothing more unnerving than taking a cold shower in silence.

Icy water rolling down your back as you sit at the bottom of the shower.

Drip drip drip.

Suddenly hyper aware of every sound yet fading in and out of consciousness.

Cold streams making their way down the landscape of your body ending in the drain.

Life is grand
but only in certain ways.

The water thickens with a pink hue.

Then red.

Blood red.

You watch your life force slowly run down your skin and into the drain.

Where is it coming from?

Your hands make their way up your arms, then to your shoulders as you trace the red warmth to your skull.

You find the source as your hands meet the crown of your head.

"Oh." You breathe out.

"It's just like Mother said, 'Your mind is wrong. It's all in your head.'"

A sobbing chuckle escapes your lips.

The blood continues to spill.

"Well she wasn't wrong." You whisper to the silence.

"It's all in my head."
