baekhyun went to the bookstore the next day to pay for his book loan, his heart skipping a beat when he noticed kyungsoo behind the till but his back was faced to him as he sorted out the shelves behind him.

staring at kyungsoo's behind was still just as good.

he cleared his throat as he made his way over with the envelope of money, with a specific note just for kyungsoo.

the smaller turned at the sound of a stranger and baekhyun was sure he saw stars when kyungsoo's eyes immediately lit as he smiled just for him.

"hey there." the deep voice greeted him and baekhyun could've melted in the spot.

"i've got a loan to pay up." baekhyun spoke up as he placed the envelope down.

baekhyun watched kyungsoo's round eyes stare at the envelope before shaking his head and pushing it back, "just keep the book, baekhyun."

baekhyun furrowed his brows, how else was he supposed to visit kyungsoo, especially since this was his excuse to show up to the bookstore.

"no, i can't—"

"let me repay you for dinner, okay?" kyungsoo interrupted, "besides if anyone desperately wants that book then i'll know where you are." he smiled.

baekhyun let out a sigh, but reluctantly put the note in his pocket, he just wanted to spend time with kyungsoo and it seemed like he was pushing him away. baekhyun frowned at the thought, of course he wasn't. kyungsoo wouldn't do that to him.

he brought his attention to the smaller, putting on a smile but was interrupted when kyungsoo spoke up.

"hi, sweetie, are you ready to pay?" his voice because more soft spoken as he addressed it towards the small girl at the counter.

baekhyun moved out the way slightly, he didn't even notice there was another person in this store. he knew he shouldn't be this envious deep down but kyungsoo never called him 'sweetie' before.

he watched kyungsoo take the books from the small child, watching him smile softly to himself. did kyungsoo like children?

baekhyun, never liked children, he despised them, they were naive little creatures but if kyungsoo adored them he was sure to change that about himself.

he watched attentively as kyungsoo gave the small girl the correct amount of change and the book back after scanning it.

baekhyun looked at the cover it was something to do with a cat or a dog, he couldn't care, he just didn't like how kyungsoo spoke so softly to her. how she took all his attention.

as the girl turned from the counter, baekhyun outstretched his leg, acting just as surprised as kyungsoo as she tripped over, her book falling from her grasp as she met the floor.

baekhyun gasped, "are you alright?" he crouched down, as he collected her book, his eyes meeting the girl's confused ones.

he watched her cautious movements as she slowly nodded and took the book from his hands.

baekhyun just smiled, smiled more at her falling than her collecting the book. it was rather amusing to the male. he could tell she could see right through his grin, her small brows furrowing as she stood up.

baekhyun placed a finger over his lips, he couldn't have her telling on him; that would just ruin the fun. she seemed different from other children; attentive and cautious not like the others. he watched lips purse as if she wanted to say something but decided on leaving the bookstore.

baekhyun thought that was the better option as well.

"is she okay?"

the deep voice took baekhyun out of his thoughts as he crouched back up, "yeah, just got a shock that's all."

"how did she even fall?" kyungsoo sighed, feeling a little guilty that it was in his working hours.

"you know what kids are like, clumsy and careless."

kyungsoo nodded slowly.

"do you like children?" baekhyun questioned, his eyes focused on kyungsoo as he was about to receive a new bit of information about him, he couldn't miss the slightest change of expression, he had to know everything.

"yeah," kyungsoo nodded, baekhyun noticing a strange glimmer in his eyes, did kyungsoo want children? "they're hard work but everyone says it's worth it."

baekhyun nodded, freezing in his spot at the sudden question, "what about you?"

baekhyun shrugged, he had to be truthful but he also had to make kyungsoo like him, "yeah, adopting always seems like an option, doesn't it? give a kid a home."

deep down baekhyun cringed at the thought, but it soon disappeared at kyungsoo warm smile, he swore it could melt chocolate because his insides were currently melting at the sight of it.

"that's sweet." kyungsoo smiled.

baekhyun pursed his lips, trying to hide the big, fat grin that was threatening to spread on his lips. kyungsoo though it was sweet, kyungsoo liked that idea.

silence soon fell between as kyungsoo focused on whatever he was entering into the till. baekhyun was still letting the sudden excited rush of kyungsoo's words pass through him.

baekhyun cleared his throat at the sudden question came to mind, it was itching to come out but baekhyun didn't want to seem too desperate, too needy because what he got last night should've of been enough but it wasn't, he never had the right amount of kyungsoo.

"i was wondering," baekhyun began watching kyungsoo's eyes looked up to his.

why was he so hesitant? kyungsoo basically asked him out first.

"are you free this weekend?" baekhyun questioned.

"possibly," kyungsoo spoke up, baekhyun's eyes searching his, it wasn't yes or a no but he was left disappointed, "it depends what we're gonna do."

baekhyun shrugged, "i'm not one to plan."

kyungsoo rolled his eyes, his full attention on baekhyun as he leaned forward on the counter, leaning closer to the male across from him.

"so mysterious." kyungsoo teased.

baekhyun sighed but a smile rested on his lips, "how about we get coffee?"

"do you actually mean coffee this time or a glass of wine?" kyungsoo rose his brows.

"you decide." baekhyun replied, leaning closer across the counter as well.

"coffee?"

"coffee it is then." baekhyun smiled, immediately getting to the idea that suddenly came to his mind, "what's your number?"

baekhyun watched kyungsoo not even hesitate as he whipped his phone out from his pocket, he smiled softly to himself, kyungsoo seemed eager to have his phone number, to have connections with him.

he took the phone from kyungsoo's hands, there wasn't much on it apart from practical stuff, it seemed kyungsoo wasn't a big fan of technology. baekhyun put his phone number in, leaving the contact name basic, kyungsoo could change it if he pleased.

"i'll text you when." baekhyun spoke up.

"okay," kyungsoo nodded, a small smile on his plump lips, "i'll be waiting."

baekhyun didn't know that those three words would make him feel so accomplished with himself, kyungsoo was was going to wait on him.

a small thought entering his mind, that maybe, kyungsoo wanted him too.
