There was a hole in my heart. The minute she'd walked away, a gaping hole began to grow and it hadn't stopped. Not even during the eight whole days, she'd ignored me. You'd think it were impossible to ignore someone you lived with but somehow she did. She slept on the floor- waking when I slept and sleeping when I woke. She left early and came home late. Even through the weekend, she'd been out. I had promised Ali I would spend the weekend with her and I had stayed true to that promise. Now, as the sun set on a full school week without seeing her face, I missed her touch, I missed her laughter.

She still wasn't home. The sky darkened, the worry becoming more apparent with every second. I dialled her number and an unexpected voice rang out over the phone,

"Mel?! Girllllll how are you?" The voice of May slurred from the other side of the phone,

"May? Where the hell are you?! Why are you picking up Thalia's phone? Is she okay?" I snapped at her, my voice laced with worry. My heart clenched in my chest as May spoke the next words,

"Partyyyyingggg!" She giggled and I could hear loud noises erupting around her,

"Where. Are. You?!" I yelled down the phone, partly mad at myself for being such an idiot and partly mad at May for not telling me where she was tonight.

"Zeke's house, you gonna come and take me home, Mom?!" She was so difficult to work with when she was drunk. I thought about it for a second, it'd been a while since I'd been to a party and after this week, I could do with some fun.

"Text me the address, I'm coming." I spat out, still mad at her. I could almost hear her grin through the phone,

"Get it, girl!" She exclaimed and I couldn't tell if it was directed at me or not but I hung up, told my Mom I was going to stay around May's and grabbed Mom's keys from the kitchen side,
"Can I take your car?!" I yelled into the living room, still fairly agitated.

"No driving after drinks!" She yelled back. I didn't ask, at that second, my brain wasn't even functioning properly to understand what she meant. I left the house, slamming the door on the way out.

As I drove up to his house, I began to realise what a stupid idea this was. I just sighed, couldn't a girl just get hammered without her stupid conscience telling her what a bad idea it was? I'll admit, I'd followed literally all the rules all my life and often I'd just wondered what if I just broke them and had a little fun. I'd hardly ever drunk- in fact, I'd never actually been drunk. I was so fed up with being this perfect daughter. I was fed up with these expectations and all this pressure. I'd never been out later than midnight and I'd always make sure Brie and May were alright before even putting a second thought towards myself. That's it. I thought- today is about me. I get to do whatever I want, whenever I want. This is my life- I want control of it.

So as I walked up to the door, hearing the whistles of boys at my unexpected arrival, I turned to Zeke, who was sat with some of his friends in the front yard,

"Where's the keg?"

Music blasted in my ears and I could barely hear May as she squealed at my arrival. I had always found some sort of excuse not to come to these things. I picked up my cup from the table and drained it, feeling the poisonous acid trickle slowly down my throat. I'd always hated the taste of alcohol- always will. But tonight wasn't the night for making rational decisions. It was a typical high school party- 80% of people were drunk, 20% were making out with someone they know, 10% were making out with someone they don't and pretty much everyone feeling as if they were on top of the world. The last time I'd gone to one of these things was with May and Brie and I hadn't drunk a drop. Not to mention my irrational fear of dancing in front of other people.

I'd always loved to dance. I'd always loved music. In fact, the one thing I could depend on to cheer me up was just putting some music on way louder than the suggested volume and just jumping up and down to the beat. I just couldn't do it in front of people. I watched as Brie danced with Taylor, the funny thing was, I hadn't even known they were that close until today. May watched them adoringly beside me,

"They'd make such a cute couple," She whispered in my ear. I couldn't help but agree. Had I been so wrapped up in my own stuff that I hadn't noticed things going on right under my nose? I felt like such a terrible friend. May tugged on my hand,

"Come on, loosen up, lets dance." It may have been the alcohol or the heart-wrenching rejection of this whole week, but I'd followed her- completely forgetting whose phone she'd picked up to bring me here.

4ever by the Veronica's began playing and a smile stretched across my face. I loved this song. I started to swing my hips and follow May over to where Brie and Taylor. I smiled, letting a wave of happiness hit me and begin to sing,

"Come on baby we ain't gonna live forever!" Brie raised her eyebrows at me and I just smiled back as she sang the next line,

"Let me show you all the things that we could do!" She turned her gaze back to Taylor's and he smiled as she touched the tip of her finger to his nose. I smiled, they look so happy. How had I never noticed it?

"You know you want to be together. And I wanna spend the night with you..." I mouthed the words, still moving to the beat as my gaze aligned with Thalia's. Every time our gazes locked, she somehow seemed to make my world spin upside down. Even if I was mad at her. Even as she began to walk over, I was too stunned to even move. She was wearing a skin-tight black dress which stopped just above her knees. It wasn't mine. She was drunk. And I could tell it the minute she'd wrapped her hand around my waist, whispering the next lines of the song in my ear,

"Come with me tonight. We can make the night last forever." My throat went dry and I didn't care what people saw. They could think whatever the hell they wanted. We moved together and I never wanted it to stop. I could feel her body against mine and her face was so close I could taste the poison on her breath. Then everything stopped as two hands nailed her against the wall.

"Thalia!" I choked out, too full of the acidic substance to understand what was happening. Kye had his hands against her chest and started to yell over the music,

"You sick bitch!"
