"Hey!" Present Mic spoke and the audience went wild. You could hear the cheers coming from all directions. "It's time for the first years to enter their stage!"
As the music played, students began to walk out of the tunnel. Rather than coming out in a line, the students came out in groups with their classes.
"It's the hero course, class 1-A!" Present Mic introduced as everyone began to walk toward the center of the arena.
"I'm getting nervous! Aren't you, Bakugou?" Kirishima asked the ash blonde.
"No, I'm getting more into it." The male responded.
"Are you an adrenaline junkie?" You muttered.
"HAH?! Say it louder!" Bakugou yelled at you in response and you couldn't help but laugh at this.
Once all the classes had reached the center of the arena, the R-rated hero, Midnight, invited Bakugou up to do the player pledge.
"EEEHH!?" Everyone was in uproar. "Why him of all people?"
You patted his back as he walked up. "Say something inspirational, would ya?"
"Way to go Bakugou!" Kirishima seemed genuinely happy for him.
You watched as Bakugou silently made his way up to the stage. With his hands stuffed in his pockets, he waited a moment before declaring:
"I pledge... That I'll be number one."
Everyone was shocked and boo'd his declaration, but you couldn't help but laugh at this. It was so like him.
He turned around to face the other students and stated, "At least become a nice bouncy step for me to jump off of." This only enraged the others more.
You watched as 1-A's class representative scolded Bakugou for his behavior.
The male descended the stage without sparing a glance to the other students. He bumped shoulders with Midoriya on his way back and when he returned to his spot beside you, you gave him a big smile of approval.
"The other classes hate us more now." You laughed. "Everyone's going to get serious and try to take you down."
"Great." He stated. "That's what I want."
Midnight returned to the stage and gathered everyone's attention.
"I understand why your costume looks the way it does now." Bakugou randomly stated. You blushed, he was obviously referring to Midnight's own costume.
"Now, let's get started right away!" Midnight interrupted the uproar. "The first activity is known as the qualifier! Many students drink their tears! Here's the fateful first game!" She raised her whip and on the screen behind her were the words, "Obstacle Race".
She began to explain the course—and the rules—then told everyone to take their places.
All of the students gathered at the start, waiting for the race to begin.
As soon as Midnight yelled, "Start", a bunch of students raced their way through the tunnel.
You stayed back and watched as many people pushed and shoved one another throughout the tunnels.
"Scary." You muttered. It reminded you of when there was a Level 3 security breach during lunch.
You watched as a blast of cold air and frost was pushed out of the tunnel.
'As expected!' You smirked. "Todoroki's the plug!" You ran toward the entrance and jumped upward. There were many students stuck to the floor due to the ice, so you propelled yourself off of their shoulders.
