"Dawn..." Michelle said as she pulled her friend into a hug

Dawn had tears in her eyes with the paper still in her hand... reading over the words in the last line of the DNA resemblance chart.

  "What does this mean?" Michelle asked while trying to understand the results

"I-I got a DNA test a few days ago for Adalyn" she felt the tears fall down her cheek and onto the fabric of her cotton shirt. "And Mattia— he's her... father"

"Oh my god" her friend softly whispered as she shielded Dawn from reading over the sheet again as she took it from her hand and looked at it herself. However, Dawn was in complete and utter shock

It couldn't be true, she thought to herself.

It couldn't be... he couldn't be the father... it wasn't true... there was a mistake

Her mind was unable to fathom the words she had just read as it replays in her head.

Paternity Probability: 100% was what the sheet had read at the bottom; followed by a complete and clear description of the X and  Y chromosomes from him and her daughter

She buried her face in her hands as she began screaming but the sound was muffled as it seemed as though she was screaming to a wall. She felt Michelle place her hand on her back as she whispered "it's gonna be okay" into Dawn's ear

"It's not"!The woman said as she stood and grabbed onto the file of information. She opened a drawer at a desk in the room and buried it deep inside

"Dawn.. what are you doing" her friend asked while approaching her

"He can't see it... he can't know"

"Why-"

"Because how am I supposed to look him in the eyes and tell him she's his when I kept denying it!"

"It's not your fault-"

"It is now!" She took a deep breath. "It is now. He can't see it"

"Dawn"

"Michelle I won't let him. No."

"Dawn he has to!" Her friend raised her voice "you'd rather have the man who raped you be her father?"

"She looks nothing like Mattia there must be a mistake"

"There is no mistake when it comes to this stuff. It even gave you the list of DNA cells that were compatible"

Dawn pushed past her friend and went towards the bathroom

"How are you just gonna ignore this!" Michelle yelled when she heard the door slam shut

Dawn had locked herself inside the room... as she fell to the floor. Her knees had buckled and her head was spinning . Everything felt like it was out of order as most things do when she's like this. She was having a panic attack
