"Abduct you? You abducted me!" You knocked him out when you first saw him and brought him inside.

"That ' little metal ring that just fell'.. Was how others travel to other earths. I'm stuck here until I get it back?"

He pushed you off a building when there was no other option opening a portal below that took you to safety..
