G O L D E N

"Where are we going?" I asked as I followed after Soobin. He was leading the way somewhere into the woods. There was too much greenery. It was different from what I had ever seen. The trees were huge, the leaves were enormous and the sky was covered with a canopy of trees here and there. It was like what I saw in the movies of Jurassic Park.

"To meet your friends of course." said Soobin turning back to have a look at me. "Are you admiring this place enough? I'm sure this place is nothing like that rotting world you live in." he chuckled and turned back around.

"Hey watch your mouth! I love my world however the fudge it is!" I exclaimed with a scowl on my face. "Even though I do say I don't like it, I found my best friends there." I said with a dreamy smile.

"Hmm hmm are all you girls so dramatic?" Soobin asked shaking his head and coming to a stop almost making me collide into him. "Hey watch it little girl."

"Yah! Who you calling little huh? And who you calling dramatic!? If it's because I said fudge it's because I wanna be nice to you!" I yelled at him making him laugh in my face. This weird guy has so many guts I swear to god.

"So who do you wanna meet first? Yeonjun, Hueningkai or Beomgyu?" he asked as he crossed his arms. It was then that I realized that we were standing at a juncture of three paths leading to three different directions.

"Can't I meet them all together?" I enquired biting my lip. I missed them all so much that I didn't know who to pick.

"Not yet. Maybe later, if the universe of this island feels so." said Soobin with a shrug and looked at his watch. "Quick quick we don't have forever. Make your pick come on." he said impatiently sighing out loud.

"Umm..." I thought for a bit thinking about all three of them. Who do I want to meet? "I can't choose. You choose for me." I said looking at my shoes as he rolled his eyes at me.

"Love, best friend or cherished friendship?" he blurted out with a straight face making me couch my eyebrows together as I shook my head. "Sorry what? What do you mean?"

"Isn't it obvious!" he said throwing his hands up in the air. "Yeonjun, your love, Hueningkai your best friend or Beomgyu, your cherished friend??" he said explaining the meaning of what he meant perhaps.

"Hey! I don't love Yeonjun or anything!!" I remarked getting all flustered and looking away as I bit my lip getting all embarrassed.

"Oh my god are you that dumb!?" he laughed out loud making me frown deeply. "Even we inhabitants of Magic Island know it! I'm your friends' guardian and even Yeonjun keeps denying it! You both are so alike!" he exclaimed amusedly. "So choose fast. Chop chop!" he hurried me.

"O-o-okayyyyy K-Kai!!" I said as fast as I could earning a smirk from him.

"Saving the best for the last, are you?" he said making me go totally red. "Okay take the path in the left." he said pointing at the road.

Without a second look at him I started down the road. It was like a plane lane in the beginning but as I walked down the path I noticed it had started getting a gold colour. It was shining brightly, as bright as the day and as glorious as the sun. I couldn't see anywhere but ahead. It felt like I was surrounded with golden light and very soon I felt tiny sparks around me. They looked like golden fireflies and were beautiful. Suddenly I heard a voice. A very familiar voice.

"Hyun Ae? You came!"

"Kai??" I looked around searching for his face hoping with all prayers to see him. It felt like forever since I last saw him. And there he was- My bestest friend.

"Kai!!" I squealed as the tears automatically started running out of my eyes and I ran towards him. All the golden was gone. It was again the woods and greenery and my best friend. Hueningkai.

"I missed you so much! You dummy!" I yelled at him as I leaped into his arms and hugged him tightly like my life depended on it.

He wrapped his arms around me too and buried his head in the crook of my neck and closed his eyes. "I missed you too. So much..."

I couldn't take it. I was feeling too overwhelmed for even my liking and didn't even realize when I turned so desperate that I started crying in his arms. I felt safe again. I felt happy again. He soothed my back and ran his fingers through my hair as I shook uncontrollably in his arms.

"Now don't get too close or Yeonjun might not like it!" he tried to laugh but I heard it. How his voice broke at the end. "Stop acting so tough for my sake Kai. S-Stop... I need you back... All of you..." I sniffled clutching on to his jacket tighter. For a change, he did not retaliate, in fact, he hugged me tighter and buried his face further in my shoulder. "I wish I could go back. I'm sorry."

"Wasn't there any other option Kai?" I asked sadly moving away slightly to look up at him. "Was... Suicide the only option?" I asked cautiously, the word itself feeling vicious in my throat.

"There's much more Hyun Ae..." he muttered softly, suddenly turning all gloomy and looking away. "What do you mean?" I questioned with a little frown.

"Have you met Yeonjun and Beomgyu yet?" he asked suddenly changing the topic. I shook my head and he genuinely looked really surprised. "What?" I asked. "You chose to meet me before the other two?? Okay, screw Beomgyu but you chose to meet me before Yeonjun!?" he half screamed.

"Well yeah! I mean you're my best friend and almost my annoying brother and Soobin was boy giving me all the sweet time in the world to stand back and choose!" I exclaimed as a matter of fact-ly. "And also, if Beomgyu would be here, he'd beat you up right now." I concluded.

"He'll beat me up anyway, because I know you'll complain to him." he said with narrowed eyes earning a sly grin from me. "And wow, you met Soobin, oh of course! Otherwise you won't be here... He is one of the best guarding angels." he said scratching the back of his head.

He was about to say something when suddenly Soobin popped out of nowhere. "Hey Hueningkai what's up?" he grinned. "The sky." Kai shot back with a wink and both of them laughed. I smiled at the two boys in front of me. Oh how much I missed my dorky best friend...

"Time to go meet your next buddy Hyun Ae." said Soobin turning to me. "What already??" I asked like a whiny little kid. I wanted to stay here more and talk to Hueningkai. We met after so long and I missed him so much.

"It's okay... Go ahead Choi Hyun-Ae ah!" said Kai gently shoving me and smiling but I could sense the sadness lingering in his eyes. I didn't even get to say anything before we were back to the same juncture in the blink of an eye.

"So middle path or the right path?" asked Soobin.
