Lexa

With everything that had happened with Kara and the guests, Lexa had almost forgotten about the Challenge. Almost. Shadows danced around the room, her mind seeing Azgeda in each one, paranoid Nia would not allow this Challenge to happen honourably. Clarke beside her didn't help calm her mind, each shift in the furs putting her even more on edge. This was not how she should be spending her night before a fight to the death, she needed sleep.

"What are you worrying about?" Clarke's murmur caused her to snap her head to face her, Lexa hadn't realised she was awake.

"The Challenge. It's today." Lexa turned to face away from Clarke.

Fingers stroking her arm, her back, sending electricity through her fingertips. "Tomorrow, today will be a memory and you will be here-"

Lexa turned to see Clarke. "Can we talk about something else?" She couldn't here about the things she would do tomorrow, the plans Clarke had, the times they could have together. Tomorrow wasn't guaranteed, to think it was, she may as well give Nia the win now.

Clarke smirked, "We don't have to talk at all."

Leaning over Clarke, Lexa grinned, this was a distraction she could get used to.

Lena

Waking up with Kara should have been the best thing in the world, she had wanted it for long enough. Yet, seeing the mass of blonde hair blocking most of her view, Lena wished she could go back to not knowing.

Her best friend, the woman she loved hurt her in a way she promised herself she wouldn't let happen again. It shouldn't bother her now, they had bigger problems than her feelings, feelings that confused her the longer they stayed here.

"What are you worried about?" Kara's raspy voice woke Lena up, the trance held over her letting go enough to feel arms wrapped around her. Arms that seemed to have no inclination to let go.

Lena gently pushed away from Kara. "You." She could feel Kara's gaze searching every detail, looking for more information.

"Do I scare you?" The pain in her friend's voice almost had her hugging the blonde, but she needed the truth.

"Supergirl." Cold hit her as the arms surrounding her slipped away, letting her move away if she wanted. Lena pulled Kara ever-so-slightly closer. "You were so different last year, practically hated me for making kryptonite to save Sam, breaking into my vault instead of trusting me.

"You trusted me to irradiate the atmosphere with lead, using a device originally used to kill Kryptonians. I knew I would lose Supergirl's friendship and trust when I helped Sam. I just don't understand how you be so cold and so human towards me."

Lena took a breath, feeling Kara's eyes never leave her. "It makes me wonder which version of you is a lie. My best friend, who makes me smile with a thought... or the superhero that looked at me like I was just another Luthor." Her voice broke at the last few words, tears threatening to fall.

Silence can be beautiful, it can also let you hear every little change in the world around you. A jump in the heartbeat, the softest of breathes, and the most heartbreaking of quiet sobs.

"You were never just another Luthor. From the first moment I saw you, I knew you were someone I needed to know. Stood next to Clark in your office, you said you were just someone looking to make a name for themselves outside of their family, something I understand better than you think." Kara slowly brushed hair behind Lena's ear.

"Superman is my family, the only shadow most believe I live in. The truth is, my Mother was judge and jury, sending criminals to a prison only the most dangerous should be, and my Father made a virus to kill all aliens, except Krptonians. Just my name gives me enemies, enemies that could kill you and anyone else that knows my secret, in an attempt to hurt me." Kara licked her lips.
