As soon as Kirstie can't see anyone else from the meeting she takes off running as fast as her high heels will take her. She has to find Avi now, check that he's okay, but also tell him the big news. Sure she's not supposed to tell anyone, but if she doesn't she'll burst, so telling Avi is perfect because who's he gonna tell?
She pops her head into the Orange Room, but it's just Matt in there.
     "Hi," he smiles brightly.
"Hiya," she replies, pulling her head straight back out.
     "Wait! Kirstie!"
She leans into the room and Matt is standing, "Yeah?"
Just wanted to say well done on the album, it's on point. And congrats on the tour, you're gonna nail it," the bright smile doesn't falter.
"Aww," she coos, "You're so sweet, thank you," she stands in the doorway, hand over her heart. "Have you by any chance seen Avi?"
"He popped in here about fifteen minutes ago for all of two seconds and didn't say anything," he sits back down.
     "Okay, thanks, bye."
     "Bye."
She barely looks at him again as she takes off. She doesn't know where to check next, the terrace? The recording studios? Probably one of them because there is no one using them, so it'd be a good place to be by himself, and that sounds like Avi.
Kirstie looks through the small window into the first recording studio, it's dark but she can see a shape in there that she's sure is Avi, so she pushes the door open. "Hey Babe."
     He sighs, "Hi."
"Don't be so disappointed to see me," she jokes.
This gets the smallest of chuckles from Avi. "I'm never disappointed to see you Kirst. But I don't want to talk about what happened in there, okay?"
"Alright then, I've got some cool news to share anyways," she flicks on the light, practically skipping to drop onto the couch next to him. He doesn't say anything so she takes that as her cue to continue. "Guess who's pregnant?"
Avi's eyes widen, "Don't mess with me." His voice is laced with something Kirstie can't pinpoint.
"No I'm not, she's really pregnant, she said so."
"Oh," his eyes go down, "Not you then."
"No, not me," Kirstie laughs. "May, that's why she's all good about only doing the first part of my tour that Citizen Queen can't make it to."
"Oh right," he responds in a rather dispatched manor.
And Kirstie's smile falters as she realizes what it was in his voice that she couldn't place, she couldn't place it because she hadn't been expecting it. She'd been expecting curiosity, not happiness, Avi had been excited about the thought of them having a baby. She doesn't know how to take that.
"So how far along is she?" He asks, his tone much the same, much defeated.
"Not far, still in the not telling anyone stage, but she had to tell us," she shrugs, trying to let his new mood just roll off, but she can't. "Avi, why are you sad?" She asks even though she's pretty sure she's figured it out.
     "I'm not sad."
     "Don't bullshit me Avriel."
He sighs, "Honestly, and please don't freak because it doesn't actually mean anything, but I thought you were pregnant and it made me really happy, like it surprised me how happy I felt for it just to be taken away in two seconds. But don't worry about it."
Kirstie shuffles closer to him, "I do worry about it through Babe, not so much the why, but you being sad, I hate you being sad," she sticks her bottom lip out.
He gives her a small smile. "But we don't have to be anything, happy or sad because we're not ready for kids," he decides.
"No we're not," she agrees. "You kind of fell into that real easy though, thinking I was pregnant," she laughs.
He laughs too, "It's how you worded it, not to mention it made sense with how sick you've been recently."
Kirstie stops laughing, no trace of a smile left on her face because never before in her whole life has she ever been sick from stress.
