"But you've only known Fitz for seven months," Dex said at their lunch table the next day. "You barely know each other,"
Thankfully, Fitz was at a field-trip for the chess club, so obviously he wasn't there to hear her friends bash their new relationship. Apparently, Keefe and Biana had decided to tell the whole school and now everyone was jumping down her throat.
"So?" Sophie said. "Disney Princesses can fall in love in a day. Why can't it be like that in real life?"
"I can't believe, you—Sophie Foster—used an analogy like that," Dex said, shaking his head. "I think this date is making your brain foggy."
"Don't you believe in love at first sight?" Linh asked him, taking a quick glance at Wylie.
Dex sighed. "Of course I do—but not with Fitzphie."
"Fitzphie?" Everyone asked.
"Yeah," Dex said. "It's a ship name—like Percabeth."
"But this isn't a book," Biana said, at the same time Keefe laughed. "Ha! I think it should be Sofitz—since Foster's obviously in charge."
"Whatever," Dex said, rolling his eyes. "Back to the conversation: Raise your hand if you think Sophie and Fitz and dating way too soon,"
Keefe, Marella, Tam, Dex, Wylie, and Jensi raised their hands. "There," Dex said with an affirmative nod. "See Sophie, the vote carries. Therefore you must halt your date with Fitz Vacker."
"That's not fair," Sophie argued. "It's my life—I can do what I want to,"
"Oh yeah?" Tam asked. "If Fitz jumped off a cliff, would you do the same thing?"
Sophie had to think about that for a considerable amount of time. But thankfully she didn't have to answer because the bell rang, dismissing them to their next class.

"Ugh! But I'm terrible at basketball," Sophie complained after Coach Axelene told them what they were doing that day.
"It's not real basketball, Foster," Keefe said, dribbling the orange ball like a champ. "It's just a little game,"
Sophie rolled her eyes. "Same thing—I'm bad at anything that has to do with a ball,"
Before anyone could remark on her statement, Coach Axelene blew her whistle. "For this exercise you'll be able to choose your team, but I will only allow ten people on a team."
Soon, people started picking teams, and Sophie was a little worried. She had exactly ten friends, so someone would be left out.
But thankfully—since Fitz wasn't there—they had exactly ten people. So that was good.
"Okay," Keefe said, dribbling the ball some more. "This is the plan: All the un-basketball people are going to go in the middle. At the beginning and end are going to be the pro-basketball people. Are you catching my drift?"
"When'd you turn into a surfer dude?" Tam asked, peering at Keefe.
Keefe rolled his eyes. "Shut-up Bangs Boy—anyway, do you all understand?"
Everyone nodded, or said yes, before the whistle blew and they all lined up against the wall. Their order was: Wylie, Tam, Biana, Dex, Sophie, Marella, Jensi, Linh, Maruca, and Keefe.
Sophie was most obviously put in the middle with Marella because they were terrible.
But thanks to Keefe's line-up system, they got second place—but the worst part was that Stina Heks' group got first.
