Zay's POV

I've finished unpacking my stuff into my old cabin. My bunk bed space is the same as when I last saw it, as are my roommates. Adam and Cameron were already passed out by the time I arrived, so just Levi and Matt helped me get settled in.

Levi escapes to his bed, but Matt sits at the edge of mine for a while longer.

"How was the dance?" he asks me.

"It went good, I actually had fun. Not as horrible as I thought it would be. Amber helped with that."

"You really like this girl huh? I don't think I would have ever imagined you going to a high school human dance."

I half smile. "Yeah, well it made our last night together special." I go quiet for a second not sure if I felt like talking about it.

But knowing me better than I know myself, Matt states exactly how I'm feeling. "You miss her already don't you?"

"I do. Is that weird? I've only known her for a few months but she already has my entire heart."

He pats me on the back. "Nah bro, I think you've just found the one for you. Did you tell her exactly how you feel before you left?"

I didn't. I wanted to say the words but being rejected was too much of a fear. "No. I should have."

"Don't worry. You'll get another chance." He gets up. "But hey, we got a big day tomorrow, Imma beat you at our first training fight."

"We'll see about that one."

He laughs. "Alright bro, goodnight and welcome back."

"Night."

Sinking into my bed just like the old days with the guys gives me a tiny sense of comfort. A tiny one, because without amber next to me I feel incomplete. I knew leaving her would hurt, but I wasn't expecting this cold emptiness. I spend hours tossing and turning in bed, finding it nearly impossible to find rest.

But as I finally start to drift off and fall asleep, in what feels like seconds my body is filled with a terror so real that I feel like I can't breathe. Visions of dark tunnels and shadowy trees flash by my vision, and I feel as if I'm being restrained.

I'm trapped inside this void, unable to move or speak. I struggle against the darkness and see my wolf staring at me worriedly the entire time. After what feels like hours the void blurs and I start to hear voices.
Right before I wake up, a final picture stains my mind. Amber's face, unconscious strapped to a chair.

"Zay!"

I wrench my eyes open. I'm burning up and sweating, so I go try getting up. It takes me a few moments to realize Matt is leaning right above me. His hands are pinning me down onto my bed, and he's looking down at me with deep concern and worry.

Cameron, Levi, and Adam are standing a few feet away from us, the same level of concern radiating from them.

"Why are you on top of me?" I ask Matt hoarsely.

He stares at me for one more second before slowly releasing his grip on me. "You were yelling in your sleep. I came over to wake you up, but you started growling and slashing at me. Almost took my eye out."

"Sorry, nightmare," I apologize, running a hand through my hair.

The guys give an understanding nod. "Your mom?" Matt says quietly.

I shake my head. "Not this time," I recall the dream. "I think, Amber is in trouble."
