"Five, I am telling you don't do this." Scarlett pleaded the boy, standing in the middle of his room as the boy just angrily paced around.
"You don't get to tell me what to do Sky," Five growled back at the blond girl shocking her.
"I am your girlfriend," She argued back, tears already threatening to fall from her eyes. She didn't understand why her boyfriend wanted to risk his life just for some new ability. Just so he can travel in time. She understood that it may sound cool but their father has always told them how dangerous it was and she didn't want to lose him if anything went wrong.
"That doesn't give you the privilege to order me around." The boy snapped, looking his girlfriend dead in the eyes. He was determined to do it and there was no one stopping him.
"But I don't want to lose you," This made Number Five to groan angrily. The pair hear the bell ring signaling it was time for lunch.
"Can you at least believe in me for a while? Try to be supportive of me for once. If you can't do that I don't know why we are even together." Five snapped pushing past his girlfriend and out of the door. Scarlett sighed and left the room. She didn't want to be late or else she would be punished. In the background, the radio was talking. It was a ritual to listen to some old man blabbering during mealtimes. When Scarlett walked into the room everyone was already there standing by their chairs.
"Number Eight, you are late." Sir Reginald informed his daughter who took her place in between Ben and Klaus.
"I'm sorry sir." She apologized hoping her father wasn't in the mood for punishments.
"Let it not happen again," Reginald answered and she nodded. "Sit." He ordered his kids and all eight of them sat down at the same time like little soldiers, they were treated like that so it was normal for them to act like it. Scarlett watched her plate not feeling like eating. Klaus next to her was rolling himself a joint under the table. Any other day his sister would elbow him to stop him but today she didn't which confused him. He looked up to see his sister focused on her plate her hand under the table glitching with little sparkles. He would ask what was going on but they couldn't speak during mealtimes. Suddenly Number Five stabbed his fork into the table making everyone look up confused.
"Number Five? " Reginald asked, raising an eyebrow at his son.
"I have a question." Five asked propping his elbows on the table. He pulled off the sweetest sarcastic smile he ever had. Scarlett rolled her eyes and looked back at her plate.
"Knowledge is an admirable goal, but you know the rules. No talking during mealtimes. You are interrupting Herr Carlson." Reginald dismissed his son and everyone turned back to eating. Everyone but Five. The said boy pushed his chair back and stood up.
"I want to time travel." The brunet demanded angrily. But his father was quick to dismiss him again.
"No,"
"But I'm ready. I've been practicing my spatial jumps, just like you said." Five argued using his powers as he appeared next to the chair of his father. "See?" Sir Hargreeves, however, wasn't fazed by such actions.
"A spatial jump is trivial when compared with the unknowns of time travel. One is like sliding along the ice, the other is akin to descending blindly into the depths of the freezing water and reappearing as an acorn." This answer made Number Five frown.
"Well, I don't get it." Scarlett lifted her head when she heard that her boyfriend didn't understand something. He was considered a genius child and she often felt like an idiot around him.
