The hallways were filled with people, the loud chatter of numerous students echoing through them. But Taehyung didn't care; his teammates and best friends surrounded him.

"Yesterday, I saw something creepy," he spoke up, causing his friends to look at him in confusion; they were in the middle of talking about the upcoming game.

"I saw someone getting beaten up in some sketchy alley. The guys were covered in tattoos and stuff, didn't look too friendly," the boy said, shaking his head to get his hazel hair out of his eyes.

"Tae, that's dangerous! Did they see you?" Jin chimed in and shot the younger a worried look. "Nah, don't think so." Taehyung shrugged and sighed as the bell rang.

"I have biology now. I just hope that my partner is someone smart and willing to work; I don't wanna do it all alone again." He said and stared pointedly at a boy hurrying to the same class as him.

Jin laughed and patted his shoulder. "You know you can always call me in for help," he said and gave one of his usual warm-hearted smiles.

"Sure," Taehyung said and pushed himself off the locker he was leaning on. He walked to his next class, he honestly hated biology, but his parents would end him if he got grades lower than a B in any subject. Plus, he needed to maintain good grades to stay on the basketball team.

He opened the door and saw a free seat next to a boy he saw in the hallways quite often but never spoke to, despite sharing numerous classes with him.

Their teacher soon walked in and started explaining the topic of today's lesson, her monotone voice causing Taehyung's eyelids to become droopy.

"Regarding the project, which will count for one-third of your final grade this year, I want you all to give your best. The theme will be 'Drugs and their influence on the human nervous system', and I know there is a wide range. But please come and speak to me about the topic you decide to choose, which has to be settled by the next lesson." she said, pushing up her glasses.

"Those will be your partners:" and at that, Taehyung tuned out. He stared out of the window, wishing for nothing but school to end. Sure it was nice seeing his friends every day and hanging out, but the time between the breaks was irritating.

"Kim Taehyung and Min Yoongi,"

As his ears picked up the name, he couldn't help but wonder. He had heard the name before, but he couldn't pin a face to it. He looked around and saw everyone doing their own things, but then his eyes met dark brown ones in the back of the classroom.

The boy looked different, his hair dyed a bright blonde, and Taehyung couldn't help but think about why he never noticed him before. Usually, people would shoot him a kind smile when they got paired up for a project, but Yoongi just looked at him without any decodable emotion showing. Yoongi seemed overly excited to work with him. Not.

Yoongi, on the other hand, was hiding his curiosity. He knew who Kim Taehyung was, and he also knew that he was a popular kid. The problem was, he seemed nosy. And Yoongi hated curious people, mostly because he had to maintain a particular image in school.

Taehyung couldn't help but nudge his neighbor. He looked at him questioningly, but he decided it's better to ask than to know nothing.
