Your POV
I watched my alarm turn to 7:00 and it beeped. I reached over and turned it off. I heavily sighed then got up and got ready. I went downstairs and ate a waffle, then went over to Jim's house. The garage door opened and "Jim" was standing there.

"We're gonna be late, Jimbo." I said as I leaned on my bike.

"Ugh. Keeping up appearances is hard." He said as he got on his bike. We rode down the street and turned to go into the woods.

"She was so close to finding out today. I don't know how long I can keep this up." He said as he caught up with me.

"Probably because you're a terrible actor." I said as I rolled my eyes. Jim reaches up to his face and pulled, making a bright light and revealing Toby holding a mask.

"Then you wear the glamour mask and play Jim. It's got this sweaty troll stank to it." He said as a fly flew around it.

"No. We made a deal. You cover for him in Arcadia, and I'll handle all his duties in Trollmarket." I said.

"Fine. Speaking of which, any word?" He asked. I knew he was referring to Aaarrrgghh, so I ignored him.

"We're gonna be late!" I shouted. "It's only been two weeks, and the amulet hasn't called for anyone else, which means Jim is okay in the Darklands. He'll be back, and with my baby cousin." I said as I rode down the side of the canal, flashbacks happening of when we first found the rubble of Kanjigar with the amulet. I shook my head and kept riding to school.

"Think, Blinkous, think!" I heard Blinky say as we entered the library.

"Any luck, Blink?" Toby asked as I looked at Aaarrrgghh.

"Per usual, I'm never short on plans, but a working one? No. I must say, it is almost frustrating to find oneself without any options." Blinky said. I walked over to Aaarrrgghh, grabbed the fetch from beside him and stuck my head inside. Nothing but black and green rock. I took it off and looked to the others.

"I've been sticking my head inside this all around Arcadia. All I see is endless Darklands. No Jim. But, I have been leaving Nougat Nummies with 'Keep It Crispy' on them to let him know we haven't given up on him..." I said as I threw another one in the Fetch, "and to provide a boost of nourishment." I sighed and leaned against Aaarrrgghh's arm.

"This is hopeless, isn't it?" I weakly asked Blinky as he came up to me.

"As my brother Dictatious used to say... [speaks in trollish]."

"What does that mean?" Toby asked.

""Even the word 'hopeless' isn't a word of hope." Which is precisely why we mustn't give up in helping Master Jim. Our adventures have already taken one friend from us." Blinky said as he put a hand into Aaarrrgghh's palm.

"Don't remind me." I mumbled as I looked up to Aaarrrgghh's face.

"We must not lose another. The answer to saving Jim is in here somewhere." Blinky said and we nodded.

I read the page, then flipped it to the next one.

"Hey, what the heck? Who turned my Warhammer into a back scratcher?" Toby said and I looked up.

"Wow, thanks." PT 2Where stories live. Discover now
