Jacob
Dad was going through the motions. I could tell. He looked lost, unsure of who he even was. I couldn't make any sense of what I saw in his mind. From the disgusting cell, to the mysterious figure across from him, to the field, to the figure he hugged, to the children around me. What did it all mean? Were we even espers? Were we even human? In any way? I knew that Moya knew something. However, she had changed so rapidly since coming to my grandmother's house that it was beyond suspicious. However, with the new course of events, it was suspicious of, not only Moya, but my grandmother too.
"Stop thinking so hard." Moya ordered. "Save it for later."
"You still know something." I convicted.
"We still on this?" She sighed.
"Why did you try to kill us?" I asked. She was about to answer, but words failed her. She then slumped her shoulders.
"I-I don't remember." She replied.
"What?!" Both Dad and I asked.
"I DON'T REMEMBER!" Moya snapped. "I don't remember almost anything. Just the basics."
"Bullshit." Dad chuckled. "You just forgot almost everything."
"I don't know what to tell you." She responded. "I just did what your mother told me."
"Why'd you say it like that?" I asked.
"I'm not sure you know, but I'm not the biggest fan of her." Moya answered.
"Why?" Dad asked.
"You know how I'm gonna answer." She said.
We reached the house relatively quickly, and Dad knocked on the door a few times.
"Let me do the talking." He told us as he quickly looked back.
"Yes, sir." Moya sarcastically remarked with a weak salute. The front door opened and my grandmother appeared just the same as she was when we came last time.
"Oh, Kazan. You look dreadful." She chuckled as she brushed a brown lock of hair away from her eye.
"Nice to see you too, Mom." He sighed as he entered the house.
"What brings you three here?" She asked as she closed the door behind us.
"Mom, I'm confused." Dad started.
"Why?"
"I feel like I don't really know who I am anymore."
"Come sit down." Grandma ordered as she pulled out a chair from the kitchen table. "Tell me about it." Moya and I took our seats next to each other with Grandma at the end of the table with Dad next to her.
"I have seen glimpses of things, Mom." Dad explained.
"What things?"
"A cell." He answered. "I was much younger. There's always someone sitting across from me, but I can't ever tell who it is. I get tortured, berated, and beaten."
"It's just a dream, baby." Grandma replied. Moya let out a quiet scoff that only I could hear.
"No, it felt like more than that." Dad refuted. "I felt like I could touch the things around me. They're like visions."
"Is this some side-effect of your powers, Kazan?" His mother asked.
"I don't know, and I'm wondering if you know anything."
"Come with me." She said as she stood up. "I need to show you something."
""You two stay here." Dad ordered Moya and I.
"Got it, chief." Moya sighed.
Kazan
"Kazan, it's just a dream." Mom insisted well she closed the door to my bedroom on the second floor.
"It felt like more than that, Mom." I defended.
"What was in the dream?" She asked as she patted the bed next to her, telling me to sit down.
"Myself, in places I've never been before." I answered. "I saw people I've never seen before, but they knew me. I talked to someone like I knew who they were, but I had no memory of them. I feel like... I'm missing something from my life."
"Listen, you are missing nothing, Kazan." Mom said. "You are my boy, and you know who you are."
"Why are you acting this way?" I snapped. "Why are you straight-out denting it without even thinking? You know what kinds of abilities I have, and they all have to do with my mind. You know where dreams come from? The mind."
"Don't talk to me that way." Mom ordered. "I'm trying to help you."
"Then help me by at least attempting to believe me." I sighed and walked to the door. "I think we should go."
I exited the room and went back downstairs to see Jacob and Moya awkwardly sitting next to each other.
"Let's go." I sighed as I walked by them to the front door.
"Wait!" Mom called from the stairs. "Don't go! At least stay for some food." Moya sighed and walked towards my mother slowly.
"What are you doing?" I asked. She didn't answer me and slowly got closer to her. The two went upstairs together.
"I'll be back." She said as she jogged upstairs.
"What the hell is going on?" Jacob asked. "Are you sure that's your mother?"
"She's obviously hiding something." I said. "Just what is it though?"
Just then, the house tumbled and the ceiling crumbled near the entrance.
"What the hell?" I asked as I ran upstairs.
My room had an enormous hole in the side, and Moya stood in the middle of the room with her hand outstretched.
"WHAT DID YOU DO?!" I screamed. I saw Mom lying on the ground face-down in the distance. Moya looked back at me, and I saw a similar look in her eyes. The same hatred for me she showed before. I shot towards her, but she effortlessly through me against the wall and flew off. Jacob ran by me and flew after her. I got up and flew over to Mom. She was not in good shape. Her face had countless cuts and scrapes. Her clothes were torn, and her leg looked broken.
"Mom, can you hear me?" I asked.
"How weak do you think I am?" She chuckled.
"Let me get you to a hospital." I said as I picked her up.
"No." She insisted. "Just give me a phone, and I'll call it in. You go after her." I didn't question her any further and sped into the house and grabbed her phone. I dialed the police and gave them the address. I placed my on the couch and gave her her phone. I bid her a quick farewell and flew after the energy signals of Jacob and Moya.
It didn't take long before I found them fighting above the cloud, an artificial storm beginning to twirl around them. The clouds spun around them and formed a small barrier around them.
I took this opportunity to take Moya by surprise and grabbed her leg before throwing her towards the ground as hard as I could.
Jacob and I lowered ourselves down to the ground and stood across from Moya, who's eyes were nearly blood red from rage.
"Why, Moya?" I asked. "Why?"
