After she was sentenced guilty and jailed, he never visited her, never listened to her explanation. He took Lily's case as a challenge to himself but as time goes by, her case is becoming more personal as he is starting fall for her also knowing that her husband abandoned her in her greatest fight in life. Edward became her source of hope enduring her lonely years behind the bars. He promised her that he will do everything in his power to released her.
Hatred is all that is left. Lily buried her feelings for her husband with her own hands. Without the hatred she'll die, there isn't any part of her that feels anything else.
