Trying to Find a Way

Chapter fourteen

I wake up in my bed.  How did I get here?  I move to my other side to see Troy sleeping.  I get up and look at the clock.  We slept in!  School starts in thirty minutes. 

I bounce onto my bed and shake Troy awake.  He slowly opens his eyes.

"Troy!  We slept in!  School starts soon!" I scream.

He automatically gets up.  With no words he jumps into his room to get ready.  I put dark jeans on with an under-armor sweatshirt. 

I rush into my bathroom and brush my teeth.  I pull my hair up into a messy bun and rush back into my room.  I jump through my window into Troy's.  I see him put a sweatshirt over his green shirt.

"Ready to go?" He asked. 

I nod and sling my backpack over my shoulder.  I must have put in here before. 

We ran down the stairs. Troy being Troy, he jumps off of the fifth step missing the rest of them.  We bolt out of the front door and hop into Troy's car.

He starts the engine and we are off.  I'm so surprised we didn't get pulled over. 

Once we get to school, we sprint into the doors and to our lockers.  People look at us like we are crazy.

We get to our lockers.  I am out of breath.  Troy looks like he walked to school.  How can he be so fit?

"I never got to say this, but good morning!" He says with a smirk and pecks my lips.

"No P.D.A in the hallways!" Ashley screams as she walks towards us.  We also see James trailing behind her.

A blush forms onto my cheeks.  She just had to scream.

"Good morning to you too." I mumble to get.

She slings her arm around my shoulder.

"Good morning my dearest friend." She smirks.

I laugh at her.

"Morning everyone." James says.

"Morning my favorite cousin!" Troy sings.

I chuckle at Troy. 

James glares at him. 

"That kid is cute." Ashley whispers into my ear.

"That's James." I reply to him.

She looks at him.  James hasn't even been here for a day and Ashley likes him.  Wow.

"Hey James." I say with a smile.

"Hey, Carolina!" He returns.

"This is my friend, Ashley.   Ashley this is my old friend James." I say and introduce them to each other.

They shake hands. 

"So are we still doing the movie night?" Ashley asked.

It's Friday!

"Of course!" Troy and I say together.

"Okay.  Don't ever do that again because that is freaking weird.  Am I invited?" James asked.

Troy and I nod together.

"Stop!" James screamed.

I start to laugh.  Troy joins me after a couple seconds.

I rip James's schedule out of his hand.  He has Math and Science with me.

"You have science and Math with me and Troy." I say to him and hand it back to him.

"Cool." He replies.

Ashley takes a peek at the schedule.

"You are in all of my classes." She says to him.

It was meant to be!

"Can you show me around?" James asked as the bell rang, singaling first period.

She nods and smiles.  We depart to our classes.

"Ashley likes James I'm guessing." Troy said we a smirk.

I nod and look down.

The whole day was a blur but thank the lord that it was Friday!  Troy and I race to the car.  Troy of course one.

"Last time we raced, I won." I say to him.

"You're never going to forget that aren't you." Troy asked.

"Nope!" I say and pop the p.

We go to my house and make popcorn.  Ashley and James are coming around six.  We are watching Paranormal Activity. 

Troy and I have a hour left to spare.  We sit on the couch and watch Criminal Minds.  It is my favorite show.

I look at the clock.  We have thirty minutes still.  I rest my head on Troy's shoulder.  Our hands are laced together.  I look at them and smile.  He is my everything.

I walk over to the door and see James.  I welcome him in.  Shortly after, Ashley comes in. 

We all sit on the couch.  I have to say it is a huge couch.  We put in the Paranormal Activity.

I am currently laughing my head off.  This is so fake.  Ashley on the other hand is shrieking.  She sounds like she is going to die.  James is looking at her uncertain if he should ling his arm around her. 

I nudge Troy to get his attention.  I point over to them.  He smiles and makes eye contact with James.

Troy mouthes something to James.  He nods and cautiously slings his arm across Ashley's shoulders.  Even though they just met, it looks as if they knew eachother for a long time.

After the movie was over, we decide to watch tv.  My mom is at work late tonight. 

We put on Criminal Minds again.  Ashley is still in James grip. 

"Do you guys want to play hide-and-go-seek?" Troy asked.

We all agree on it.  Troy and I are on a team and Ashley and James are on a team.  We are going to hide first.  They go into the kitchen as we try to find a spot.  We decide to into Bea's closet.  It's not small, it's the size of my room.  We hide in the very back. 

Troy and I look at each-other in the dark.

"How's your night going?" Troy asked me.

"Wonderful because my favorite people are with me." I reply.

"Aw that's so sweet!" Troy says in a girly voice.

I laugh at him.

We become silent as we wait for them.

After a while, they still haven't found us.

Ashley texts me and says that they give up.

We walk out of the closet and into the living room.  They are on the couch.

"You guys are babies." Troy mumbled.

"We should go." James says to Ashley.

She blushes and nods. 

We say are goodbyes and watch them ride away.
