haewon was eating now with hyuna and hyunjae, the two were talking and laughing but haewon didn't want to interact. she was dozing off and her mind went to one person, donghyuck.
she kept thinking about donghyuck's emotions, his life was full of pain, it was full of anger and it made her feel uneasy. she really wanted him to be happy, genuinely happy. she was thinking of ways on how to make him happy, ways to make him smile. she loved donghyuck's smile. it lights up her world and makes her heart beat faster.
she was so deep in thought that she became unaware of her surroundings, unaware that someone was intensely staring at her.

haewon skipped through the hallways, it was now time for their prom practice and she was excited. she liked dancing, she liked music, and she liked her partner. not romantically but in a friendly manner. she wanted to see her partner.
she was happy to be donghyuck's partner. of course at first it was awkward but after what happened earlier, she became more determined. their bond was quite bipolar, there were times they were really close and there were times where they're not in good terms.
but either way, haewon appreciates their bond.
donghyuck was obviously pushing her away but haewon was trying her best to force herself in and tries her best to let donghyuck warm up to her.
she doesn't know anything about his past. well, neither does donghyuck himself but haewon just cared about the present. well, the only ones who knows about it is kun and taeyong, the most reliable members of nct.
haewon wanted to turn donghyuck's dull life to a life that's full of colours. she wanted him to have emotions that are positive. his emotions were just sadness and anger.
well, there were times where he felt happy. he felt happy that people were scared of him. but he felt sad whenever his members were scared of him.
soon, haewon arrived at the practice room and there were already a lot of students. she was quite late since the teacher asked her to give something to the principal but it was okay for her.
she looked for donghyuck but there were no signs of him. she felt down since she wanted to say sorry and make up with him.
it is clear that donghyuck was upset when haewon stared at him deeply and she was able to read his emotions that seemed like they were nonexistent.
she then looked at each and every one of the students' face but didn't see any sign of who she was looking for.
"looking for someone?" a deep voice asked from behind her and she looked back.
she saw mingi, smiling at her. and haewon smiled back. her gummy smile was showing off, remembering the moments she remembered.
"mingi" she said before hugging him, she didn't know much but she missed him a lot.
mingi hugged her back, he wasn't sure if he truly missed but he was relieved that they reunited. they were hugging for a few minutes and then they pulled away a few seconds later.
"what are you doing here?" mingi asked and haewon stiffled a laugh before replying.
"prom practice?" she asked, sarcasm was audible by her tone and expression.
"i-i know, but why are you here alone?" mingi asked, accidentally stuttering but he just laughed it off as haewon just chuckled.
realizing her answer, her smile dropped and she looked around once again. failing to find him for the nth time, she looked at mingi with a not-so-genuine smile as she asked.
"have you seen donghyuck?" she asked mingi and mingi looked around as well before shrugging.
"nope" he said and haewon just frowned, mingi looked at her and saw her expression. he thought of why she felt sad when she knew that donghyuck wasn't here.
"oh you're his partner right?" realization hit him and he snapped his fingers. haewon nodded before sighing.
"it's okay, i don't have a partner too" mingi gave haewon a reassuring smile but she was still frowning. "wanna be my partner?"
haewon looked at mingi and he just gave her a smile, a smile that she knows that she can trust. she looked at him before nodding and giving him a smile as well.
although to be very honest, she was quite disappointed. she wanted donghyuck as her partner and maybe get closer with him.
but she was quite satisfied at the same time. she wanted to reminisce her past with him and wanted to know more on what happened when they were younger.
she was zoning out and mingi noticed this. so, he nudged her elbow and looked at haewon with a sly smile while narrowing his eyes at her, his eyebrows wiggling.
"oh yeah, what happened to you and your boyfriend?" mingi asked and haewon looked at him, flustered. she never had a boyfriend..or did she?
"b-boyfriend?" she asked while looking at mingi, wide-eyed.
"yes, you and your boyfriend. the one who saved you a few years ago?" mingi said as if it was a small thing.
"w-what?" she asked once again and mingi looked at her with a weirded out expression on his face.
"don't you remember?"
