"wait, you mean it?" haewon exclaimed, she was indeed in shock. she never knew that donghyuck would once again his nice side.
"uhm, yeah. anger took over me i guess" he said before nervously laughing and lightly scratching his head. he doesn't know why but he's nervous as hell.
haewon laughed as well but this laugh turned into an awkward silence. she stared at donghyuck for a few minutes before talking, "you are quite bipolar you know?"
"what do you mean?" he immediately asked, making haewon burst out of laughter.
personally, haewon loves being with donghyuck. whenever he's in a good mood he'll be easy-going and funny. but donghyuck rarely shows his happy side. and that's why haewon treasures every memory they have and about to have.
"one time we're laughing and talking then later you'll get mad at me" she spoke up and she told nothing but the truth. donghyuck was quite shocked but she wasn't lying and he knew it.
"i have reasons for my anger but i don't have any reason to pour it on others, especially the innocent ones" he said, feeling sorry for always yelling and nagging at haewon, she doesn't deserve this treatment, she deserves better.
"wow you are quite nice right now" haewon said making donghyuck smile at her. his smile was pretty as always. "you should smile more, you look good smiling"
donghyuck was quite flustered so he ignored what haewon had just said about his smile. "well i don't know, maybe it's because of the garden"
"right, this garden is beautiful and gives positive vibes." she said as she stared at the garden.
the garden was filled with beautiful flowers, it was in season so it made it look brighter, prettier, and more vibrant. it has a fountain in the middle and lots of benches, it brings inner peace to everyone whose been hear. but what made it special was the memories made in this garden.
"but that's not the reason why i go here every time i get mad" donghyuck said, making haewon look at him deeply.
"then why?" she asked while donghyuck shifted to a comfortable position, making haewon insecure and immediately add, "i mean if you don't want to tell me, just don't. it's your choice, it's your life"
donghyuck mentally cooed at how cute haewon was but he answered it with a serious tone, "this garden has a lot of memories" he said, remembering all of the memories him and the whole gang had done. "when we were still complete, when my life was still good, and when i still remember"
"what? what do you mean remember?" haewon was utterly confused, she never knew that donghyuck had a deep side of his life. little did she know that his past is darker than his present.
donghyuck made a long pause before answering her, "i'm just like you, i don't remember half of my life"
"why? did you get into an accident?" haewon asked, she was extremely worried and she felt bad.
"taeyong hyung told me that i didn't, i just forgot and i suddenly became the leader of nct"
"wow, that's just wow" she was shocked and confused, she didn't know how to react but internally, she just wanted to know what happened to donghyuck. is this the reason why he's cold and doesn't open up to others?
"you're pretty speechless, huh?" donghyuck looked at her reaction, wide eyes and all, her shocked face was quite amusing to him.
"well yeah, outside you're a cold mafia leader but inside, you're a person with feelings" haewon composed herself before talking and looking at donghyuck, she was deep in thought and she realized that she doesn't know a lot of things inside her brother's gang.
well, she doesn't even know much about kim dongyoung and herself.
"everyone has feelings haewon" donghyuck said which made haewon answer immediately.
"yeah but many people shut them down. that's what i thought when i first saw you, you shut down your own emotions, it was visible when i stared at your eyes"
it was true, at first his soul had nothing but slowly it's regaining everything. donghyuck is now letting in emotions, the ones he had felt before, unknowingly.
"oh"
"but when i am with you, here in the garden, you show your emotions little by little" haewon said as she looked at donghyuck in the eyes and once again, she saw his soul and it was full of emotions.
"i'm sorry" donghyuck suddenly said as haewon furrowed her eyebrows.
"why?"
"for mingi and for leaving you alone during practice" he said, getting shy as haewon softly held his hand before responding.
"oh it's okay, it's just a little thing, except for the mingi one" she said with a heart-warming smile and gracious eyes staring into donghyuck's.
but despite donghyuck's nervous heart, he softly held haewon's hand as well, placing it on top of hers before responding, "i promise i'll make it up to you"
"oh god donghyuck, you don't really have to do anything"
"i promise that tomorrow, i'll be your partner for the last practice and i may apologize to mingi" donghyuck said, he was really sincere.
"just apologize to mingi, you don't really have to go to the practice if you don't want t-" haewon was cut off by donghyuck who was really close to kneel on the floor.
"but i want to go to the practice" he paused, mentally debating himself if he should say it. but nonetheless, he said it.
"..with you"
