I looked at my phone. It's ringing a couple of times but I just ignored it. I know who's calling. I don't have to look at my phone just to confirm it. I'm enjoying the birthday party of Rheniel.

"What's with that face?" Rheniel asked while giving me a shot of tequila.

"Isang shot lang ako, ayoko maglasing." I told her.

I have low alcoholic tolerance. Nilapag niya sa glass table ang shot glass na may lamang tequila. Rhea is sitting in front of me. Beside her is Jaime. Jaime is still enjoying the nachos while drinking the tequila like it's just a water. Same as Rheniel.

Ang lalakas uminom amp.

I felt my phone vibrates. I took it.

Mom:
Your dad will be there to get you. I told him to fetch you. He's on his way now. He'll be there in any minutes.

What?!

Napatayo ako sa gulat. The girls look at me. Confuse of what I have acted.

"What's wrong, Ave?" Jaime asked.

"May nangyari ba sa bahay niyo?" Rhea looks worried.

"Sino ba nag-text sayo? Ano sinabi?" Rheniel asked me.

"It's mom."

They all sighed at relief. Mom calls me after a second.

"Mom? Dito na ako matutulog."

"No. You're going home."

"But mom--"

"Uuwi ka ngayon din. Alam mong delikado diba?

"Mom, mas delikado kung uuwi pa ako ngayong dis-oras na ng gabi."

"Hindi lang ikaw ang delikado dyan, pati mga kaibigan mo. Paano kung nasundan ka at pasukan kayo mamaya dyan pag tulog na kayo? Gusto mo ba pati kaibigan mo madadamay?" She continued.

I sighed frustratedly.

"Alam mong delikado, kampanya ngayon at nakakatanggap tayo ng death threats. Lahat gusto palitan ang lola mo sa pwesto kaya kahit anong paraan gagawin nila maagaw lang ang pwesto."

I found myself being fetch by my father. I waved goodbye to the girls before I go inside our car.

Darkness invaded the whole highway. Hindi ko alam kung bakit minsan hindi umiilaw mga street lights dito.

Kinapos sa budget ba mayor? O baka nagtitipid ng kuryente?

I felt the silence, it makes me calm and relax. Silence in the peaceful night was my comfort zone. I looked at my dad who's silent as I am.

"Just understand your mom, Leigh. She's just worried." He spoke up when he noticed that I was looking at him.

I didn't answer him. I looked at the road.

"Whatever happens, alagaan mo sarili mo at ang mommy mo. Obey and respect her, okay, Leigh?"

Why I feel something strange about this? I shrugged at my thought. I simply nodded at him.

The long silent and peaceful night while we're on the road was been replaced by a loud bang and screech when an another car bumped us.

Before I could process what's happening, the person on the other car went out and pointed a gun on us. My eyes grew as my heart can't stop from pounding fast and loud. The next thing I knew was my father removing his seatbelt and hugged me. Then I heard a loud gunshot.
