HE OFFERED TO LET ME stay at his place while we waited for the test results to come back. I stayed in the living room, on the couch that was really comfortable, the whole time not too keen on wondering around a house that wasn't my own. To say it was awkward would be a big understatement, but it's not like I had that many alternative choices so I sucked it up. We didn't see each other at all during that period of time, but it was for the best, honestly.
And here we are now, the envelope in front of us and neither one of us daring to make a move. He kept glancing at me as if he were telling me to open it.
I mean, what the absolute hell? He's the adult here, he's the one who wanted to take a test therefore he should be the one to open it. Granted, he had every right, but, still!
We've been looking at it for the last ten minutes. I'm betting that an hour from now, we'll still be looking at the white piece of paper as if our lives depended on it.
"you know what, fuck it" Christian said, and tore the envelope open.
I waited in silence as he read it.
One minute...
Three minutes...
"Oh, come on." I breathed out, irritated and stood up. "Does it seriously take that long to read a piece of paper?" I belted out. I was nervous and irritated; not a good mix if you ask me. So, clearly, my outburst was justified.
My maybe-father just kept looking at me, tears running down his cheeks. My heart kept beating faster and faster, my palms where a sweating mess and a memory of elephants fought their way onto my stomach.
"I can't believe it, it's actually you." He said, with an incredibly soft voice and pulled me into a bone crushing hug. "All these years, searching for you, I didn't know you would be the one to come to me. You're actually here!"
My whole body sagged in relief.
I hugged him just as tight but did not say anything. I don't want to ruin this by saying something stupid.
"So, what does this mean?" I asked as I fiddled with my fingers after he had released me. "for me I mean, are you going to be my guardian or something?"
He chuckled "Yes! You'll come live with me. If you want to, I mean." It seemed as if he was a bit nervous, understandably so, though it astounded me that he would show how nervous he was in front of me.
"Yeah actually that would be great." I smiled.
I don't remember when was the last time I felt so elated. A feeling a sixteen year old should experience a number of times though I could distinctly only remember my seventh birthday when mum took me to the zoo.
He looks at me with the biggest smile ever adorning his face. "Great! I have a guest room; it'll be yours and we can paint and decorated it however you want."
I don't want him to spend so much money on me. "Thank you so much, but decorating it won't be necessary, I'm sure it's very lovely just the way it is."
"Are you sure? It's really no bother. I'd be glad to do it, honestly."
"yeah I'm absolutely sure. Thanks though."
"Well okay then, I'll just show you to your room. It's not really for your age but it's still very nice. I designed it myself, and I can say I'm very proud."
The room is very big and modern. It has a nice wooden desk and a queen-sized bed, black satin sheets and four pillows on top arranged perfectly and methodically- just how I liked them. The bed was on top of a grey carpet that looked really soft, almost making me want to rub my cheeks all over it. I quickly dismissed that thought though, I didn't want to make a fool of myself on my third day with him.
Next to the bed was a bookshelf and a black lamp that's able to retract itself. My favorite part of this room was the big open window just above the bed, it leads to a kind of balcony. It seems I have already found the place where I'll be singing and writtings songs.
After I finish analyzing the room I rush to Christian and hug him. Hard. He stumbles back a bit, but I still hold onto him.
I finally have a dad.

Okay so I just want to let you guys know that I'm lebanese and I've decided that I'm going to be making Rya and her mom lebanese too. So there is going to be a little amount of lebanese references that I'm going to explain here in the author notes :) I attempted to do a first person's pov but I just don't like it so sorry for the short chapter😬
