James Potter- What I Did To You

James Potter has always liked Lily Evans, everyone knew that. Ever since first year he had been declaring his 'undying love' for her. Y/n's sixth year started out as expected, the Hogwarts express arrived on platform 9 3/4 and took all the students to Hogsmeade where they got the carriages to Hogwarts. But as they settled down for the feast it dawned on them that something was wrong. 

At that moment James Potter stood up onto the bench and cleared his throat. Sighs of relief and countless 'Aha's could be heard throughout the hall.

"May I have everyone's attention? It has come to my attention during the summer that I am in love! All I can do is hope my love returns my affection. So, Y/n will you be my girl?", he said. The silence in the great hall was pierced by two loud gasps, coming from Y/n and Lily. Everyone, including the teachers, stared at the three teens. 

"I-I-I", Y/n stuttered in shock. 

"Please?", James added. 

"Really?", she questioned her heart speeding up as James hopped of the bench and made his way to her. 

"Really.", he confirmed cupping her face in his cheeks. 

"Oh.", was all Y/n could say before James pressed his lips to hers. Every functioning brain cell she had told her to to push him away but a little voice told her to kiss back and so she did. 

"Is it safe to say it's a yes?", James asked. 

"Uh-huh.", she hummed before leaning in for another kiss. 

This time it was broken up by Professor McGonagall who said sternly though with a smile on her face, "We're all very happy for you Potter but this is not appropriate behaviour for school. I suggest you get back to your seat and continue that later."

"Right on, Minnie.", said James and skipped back to his seat but not without shooting a wink Y/n's way.

And so Y/n  and James dated all through their sixth year and Y/n couldn't be happier, she never quite found out what caused his change of heart but she was thankful for it. James was a brilliant boyfriend and the pair spent every spare moment together doing anything from homework to sneaking out into Hogsmeade.

That's not too say the year came without its challenges, Lily had become more and more distant with Y/n as the year went on and the former best friends found themselves sat in many awkward silences. But perhaps it was James' unfaltering positivity or the Marauders' ability to always make her laugh that enabled Y/n to remain blind to the friend she'd lost that year. As the end of the year approached Y/n became increasingly excited, she James had planned to spend their holidays together and she couldn't wait.

After the end of year feast Y/n found herself leaping onto the Hogwarts express and into the compartment where she knew the Marauders would be.

"'Ello boys.", she sang entering the compartment, "Where's James?"

"Dunno, haven't seen him since Evans asked him to help her with something.", said Sirius looking up from the key chain he was messing with.

"He'll be back soon.", stated Remus eyeing Sirius's hands carefully, "It's been a good ten minutes now."

"Alright then.", shrugged Y/n and over to stand in front of Sirius, "What you got there, Padfoot?"

"I found it.", he said lifting it up to Y/n's eye level, "Look - it's a key chain and lighter in one."

"Another trinket to fuel your nicotine addiction.", grumbled Y/n angrily, "You really should quit."

Suddenly the train started and Y/n fell forwards into Sirius' lap. "You should watch your girl, Prongs, she's all over me!", Sirius laughed and helped Y/n stand up to see James standing just inside the compartment.
