Amelia had changed out of her black gown, putting on a pair of overall jeans and a stolen blue t-shirt of Bellamy's, and now sat in a chair with the redhead in question in front of her. Her hands were buried in his ginger hair, weaving it into pigtail French braids.
Bellamy perched on the arm of the chair next to her sister.
"Hey, Bels, can you grab me a refill? Firewhiskey and soda?" Amelia asked, glancing briefly up at Bellamy.
Bellamy nodded, grabbing the cup from the table next to her. "Absolutely. Fred, you want one?"
Fred didn't look up, but he tipped his head in affirmation. "Sure. Thanks, Bellamy." He said.
Bellamy booked it to where the seventh years had set up the drinks table, meeting George halfway.
"Alright, give me the veritaserum." She whispered, holding out her hand.
He slipped the small vial into her hand, and she uncorked it and dumped roughly half into Amelia's cup, and the other half into Fred's. She then poured a refill of the drinks to fill the glasses the rest of the way.
"Hold on," Bellamy said, causing George to look at her curiously. "Is this a good idea? Apart from the fact that this is morally ambiguous at best and downright wrong at worst, should we be meddling in their love lives like this?" She asked.
George cupped her face in his hands. "Bellamy. They've been practically in love for years. They're both just too daft to notice. We're helping them." He assured her with a slight grin.
"Oh, alright. I guess you're right."
Bellamy walked back to where her sister was sitting and passed her the cup, watching with anticipation as she took her first big swig of it.
"Mhmm, thank you." Was all she said—no concern of it tasting funny.
Amelia was silent for a bit longer, too focused on braiding Fred's hair to say anything.
Fred, on the other hand, was talking the moment he swallowed his first sip. But then again, him talking excessively was not something unusual.
"Y'know, honestly, I'm not too upset that Quidditch is canceled this year—I mean, classes are hard enough without balancing practices and tests and homework." He said, rolling his eyes.
Bellamy leaned over to George. "Hey, veritaserum only works when you ask direct questions, right?" She whispered in his ear.
"Oi, Freddie, how's that one Hufflepuff girl you were talking to?" George asked, winking at Bellamy.
Fred's face scrunched into a confused expression. "I dunno what you're talking about. Besides, I've got my eye on someone else." He answered.
Out of the corner of her eye, Bellamy saw her sister raise her eyebrows, but she stayed silent, clearly waiting for him to elaborate.
"Well?" George started. "Don't leave us all hanging. Go on."
Fred smiled and blushed just a bit. "What can I say? She's gorgeous—totally out of my league—and one of the funniest girls I've ever met. Merlin, she's insufferable. But I really love her, y'know?" His glance towards Amelia was almost imperceptible.
"She sounds lovely." Amelia said bitterly.
Reese laughed. "Someone sounds jealous." They quipped, elbowing Amelia in the side.
She swatted their arm away. "Shove it, Reese. I'm not jealous."
"So what's her name, then? This girl that you're so in love with. Maybe we know her." Amelia continued, now staring directly at Fred.
He stared back, not shrinking under her glare. "Her name is Amelia Bishop. Are you happy now?" He snapped.
All Amelia could do was squeak in response. She looked like she was trying to form a sentence, but no words were coming out.
"Holy shit." George said under his breath. "I can't believe you actually admitted it."
"You know what?" Amelia was standing now, suddenly able to find her words.
"If you really love me, why haven't you said anything? How long have you felt like this without saying a single word to me?" She accused.
Fred stood up as well, towering over her. "Four years. Since you hexed Higgs for calling you a mudblood.
"And I never said anything because I never thought you felt the same way." He finished, taking a deep breath.
"Are you daft?" She burst, slamming her palms into his broad chest. "Of course I love you back!"
There was a heavy silence between them, as well as those around them. The tension in the room was thick enough to be cut with a chainsaw.
"Meely," He whispered after a moment. "Kiss me."
Without even a second of hesitation, she flew at him and, caught in his warm embrace, kissed him. Her arms wrapped around his neck to pull his tall frame down, closer to her, and his hands gripped her hips like his life depended on it.
Their friends took that as their cue to disperse, some leaving the common room and others rushing up the stairs to their dorms.
"Merlin, I love you." Fred breathed against her lips, reveling in the scent of mint and lavender that enveloped him.
She tugged him even closer, whispering "I love you," in return.
