The Netherlands and USA game just ended and I was making my way toward Netherlands locker room with Leah and Beth who both decided to stay and watch the final with me. We were all wearing our teammates from Arsenal jersey to support them.
"(Y/n)" I heard and I took in a breath, I had done good the whole World Cup avoiding her and everyone from the USWNT. It would be after the final game that see catches me. I made eye contact with Leah and Beth who were looking at me with concern. I nodded at them to continue on to the locker room, as they both hesitantly walked away.
I turned around to see her, Alex Morgan.
"Alex" I said giving a small nod before I continued down to the tunnel to head to the Netherland locker room. Hoping she would leave me alone since it's obvious that I don't want to speak to her
"Stop, I just want to talk" Alex said
"Well I don't" I said moving to continue but stopped when I felt her hand grabbing mine and spinning me to face her
"What's your problem? I haven't seen you since you moved to Europe" she said
"And whose fault is that?" I asked sarcastically as she looked at me confused
"Don't act like you don't know what I'm talking about. You haven't exactly reached out to me." I said angrily, everything building up from the years of being forgotten and pushed to the side for the Alex Morgan.
"You haven't either" she said just as angrily now
"I did at first. When I was in high school and you were gone and our family left to visit you. Missing my games and events to go and be with you, to the point they put me in boarding school to not have to deal with me. I gave up reaching out when no one, not even you showed up to my high school graduation. That was the final straw and I left" I said as tears built in my eyes as I watched shock on her face
"I didn't realize it started all the way back then. I'm sorry" she said taking a step towards me
"You don't get to just say sorry and that makes up for 5 years that I was Europe. You guys knew were I was, you could have shown up. You didn't, why is that? Don't you think it was weird or strange for me to just pick up and move to a different country at 18? I get you weren't always around but none of you question it or even asked why. I haven't spoken to anyone of my so called family since then! No one has checked in on or asked how I was doing" I said as angry tears left my eyes
"I don't know how, but let me make it up to you. I was busy and I didn't even realize it" she said as tears started to fall down her face
"What's your excuse for everyone else?" I asked and she just stared at me
"Yeah, that's what I thought. I don't want anything do with you guys. Just continue to forget I exist, it shouldn't be to hard. You guys have been doing it for years"
"All you think about is your self" Alex said angrily now that I wasn't giving her a chance
"Someone had do, no one else was" I said defending my actions
"That's not true" she said getting in my face as I took a step back
"Really? Then way are you so mad?" I asked with a smirk, knowing she was was because she knew I was right.
"That's what I thought. We stopped being family years ago. I have a new family here in Europe. I'm actually happy. If you even remotely care about me like you claim, then you will leave me alone and let me be happy. That's the least I deserve, don't you think?" I said giving her one last look as i wiped my tears
"Your my little sister, you can't just change that" Alex said and I gave her one more look before saying
"Go enjoy you win, I'll see you on the field soon enough" I said as I turned to head down the rest of the tunnel were I saw my two teammate looking at me with concern. They have both seen me break down over my family and have been their to welcome me into their family's.
"You okay?" Leah asked as she wrapped me in hug as I laid my head on her shoulder
"I'll get there" I said as she rubbed my back before releasing me, wiping the rest of the tears off my face with a sad smile
"Just wait until they learn your becoming a citizen of England and playing with us in the Olympics" Beth said trying to lighten that with a laugh as we continue our way out.
"They are all going to lose it and be so mad" I said laughing as they wrapped their arms around me and went to find our other teammates on the Netherlands team who needed us right now.
"I can't wait for you to embarrass them with your skills" Leah said with a smirk
I may not have the support or be apart of my birth family, but with my family here in England. I know I'm going to be okay and have a happy life.
