We had just arrived at hotel after a celebration dinner for them winning their game against Canada. I however, was a little distracted from the phone call I got earlier.

"Are you sure your okay, you seem off" Lindsey whispered to me as were in the lobby, saying good night to everyone

"I'll tell you when we get to the room" I whispered back as we turned back to the group in front of us, however I felt my girlfriend eyes constantly looking at me with concern

"Well good night everyone" Lindsey said grabbing my hand as we made it towards

"Don't have to much fun" Kelley yelled after us causing me to roll my eyes.

The walk to the room was quite as I was stressing, trying to figure out the best way to tell her.

Once we are in the room, Lindsey instantly pulled into a hug and I took in her warmth and cuddled into her neck.

"What's bothering you?" She asked and I tensed a little and moved out of her arms as I took a seat on the bed. Her following and sitting next to me.

"So I got a call during your game today. They shared some bad news with me. I'm getting deployed in 2 months. I'm leaving in the morning to go tell my soldiers" I said as I stared at her, waiting for her reaction.

I watched as her face changed to shock.

"Your what?" She asked

"I'm deploying to Afghanistan" I replied slowly, watching her and started to feel worried for her

"And you are now leaving in the morning, rather then staying a few more days as planned" she said

"Yes"

"No" she replied causing to look at her confused

"No? What do you mean no?" I asked confused

"You can't be deploying, you aren't leaving tomorrow" she said and I saw she must still be shock from the news

"Lindsey, I don't have a choice. I'm deploying. I have to be the one to tell them"  I said trying to get her to understand

"No" she said again and I started to get frustrated

"Lindsey!" I said standing up and moving in front of her

"Get out. If you going to leave, you might as well leave now" she said with no emotions as I stared at her in shock

"It's not my choice, you know that. I have to go and I need their trust" I said in disbelief, trying my best to not be hurt by her words. Knowing they were coming from being in shock by the news and being scared

"Leave" she said and I gave her one last look before I walked out of the room, heading to the once person I knew would be able to help her

I knocked on the door and waited

The door opened and Tobin instantly looking at me with confusion

"What's up?" She asked

"Lindsey needs you" i replied with no emotion, waiting her for to head that way or ask why.

"What happened, is she okay?" Tobin asked instantly concerned

"I'm getting deployed and now leaving in the morning to tell my platoon" I replied still with no emotion  as I went to walk away as she got over her shock

"Where are you going?" Tobin asked concerned walking towards me as I was slowly moving towards the elevator

"To get a beer. Now go to Lindsey" I replied thinking of a good way to relieve some stress as I headed to the hotel bar

As soon as i got my beer i took a seat at the table and within minutes Christen was sitting with me and giving me a sad smile.

"I'm assuming Tobin told" I said as i took a big drink of my beer.

"Are you okay?" Christen asked grabbing my hand causing me to give her a small smile, not wanting her to worry to much

"I will be once Lindsey calms down" I said looking at her

"What about deploying?" Christen asked still looking at me with concern and probably worried by about about how I was handling the situation

"I mean, I knew it was a possibility when I joined. Plus their has been rumors for a couple of weeks now" I said thinking over all the things I've heard, but hoping they were wrong.

" you don't seem scared or worry?" She said as I thought about how I felt and how I knew how I acted would affect everyone around me. If showed I was scared, then everyone else would freak out

"No, I'm scared shitless right now. However it won't do anyone here or my soldiers any good if I can't control my emotions" I replied as she nodded

"You guys will look after  her for md when I'm gone, right? I can already tell she is going to be emotional" i said worried for my girlfriend and thinking about how she will be with me gone.

"You won't have to worry about her, we got her. Just focus on you and getting back to her. I don't know what she will do if you didn't return" Christen said giving my had a squeeze as I gave her a sad smile as she moved next to me, pulling me into a hug.

"You have to come back to us" she whispered as I pulled away giving her a sad smile

"I'm going to go see if Lindsey has calmed down. Feel free to finish my beer" I said as she just gave a small laugh at last statement

I slowly made my way up to Lindsey room. I took a deep breath before knocking on the door, feeling my nerves increase as I waited to see who would open the door.

The door opened to reveal Tobin, who looked sad but relieved to see me. I nodded my head to enter and she moved out of the way.

"I'll leave you too" she whispered to me as she moved out the door

I moved further into the room to see Lindsey sitting on the bed by the headboard and her eyes were red and puffy as I felt my heartbreak knowing I caused this, not intently but I did.

We made eye contact and I saw more tears start to fall down her face and I instantly moved to her and wrapped my arms around her.

I held her as she cried again.

After a little bit she had calmed down enough to talk.

"I'm sorry, I didn't mean it" she said quietly

"I know you didn't, your just scared" I replied kissing her temple

"I'm scared too, but I'm going to do everything in my power to get back to you. That's a promise" I whispered to her causing her to sit up and face me placing a hand on my cheek.

"I'm holding you to that promise" she replied before she pulled me into a passionate.
