[Finn]
Amanda was stressing instead of sleeping again. When I returned from my shift, Smokescreen had filled me and Bumblebee, who switched shifts as well, in on everything that had happened since we last checked in. Tempest having her Chaos Fernontas already on Cybertron didn't bode well for us, and Ultra Magnus leaving for Cybertron meant we were somewhat short handed. It also meant that, technically, Amanda was commanding officer of the team at the moment.
I'd driven straight to her place after I finished up at the base, and despite it being nearly midnight, a lot of the lights were on at the Beckett Manor when I pulled up. I held back a sigh, but not an exasperated one. More like an expected one.
"Hey Blair," I said at the front door, pushing the door open.
"Good evening, Mr Ryen. Miss Beckett is in the living room."
"Thanks."
My girlfriend was pacing like no tomorrow, her thoughts clearly racing a million miles a minute. I paused at the entrance of the living room, watching her for a moment and realizing that she wouldn't notice me unless I made my presence known.
"You should be sleeping, A," I said lowly, trying not to startle her.
She jumped slightly nevertheless, eyes whipping up to meet mine before she relaxed. "Right, I, uh, lost track of time, I guess."
I walked over to her, taking her hands in mine. "So you didn't realize it was almost the middle of the night, or you noticed but didn't care?"
Now her eyes widened. "It is?"
"That answers my question," I laughed, tugging her towards me so I could put an arm around her shoulder. "Let's go, Miss Leader of the Team. Bedtime."
"Did the others fill you in?" She asked, not fighting me as I led her upstairs.
I nodded. "Yeah, and it's..."
"A lot?"
"Yeah."
"I know." She scrubbed her hands over her face. "I can't shake this bad feeling I have though. I know Ultra Magnus went to reinforce the space bridges on Cybertron, but it feels like its too late."
I shot her a look. "What do you mean?"
"I'm not sure. It just... it doesn't feel right." She shook her head. "Maybe I'm just tired."
"Probably, but don't doubt your gut feelings either," I said. "We've relied on them before."
She surged forward to plop down on her bed, letting out a low groan that was muffled by her blanket. "I just want to be done with Tempest."
"You and me both." A slight smile formed on my face as I tugged her hair out of its ponytail. "We're almost there though."
Amanda lifted her head. "You think so?"
I shrugged. "Well, things are usually suckiest near the end, right?"
"If you say so," she snorted, tone amused.
"Hey, wrong answer." I laid down next to her. "I'm always right."
"If you say so," she sang this time, shifting to rest her head against my chest and I pulled her close. "Thank you, Finn."
"For what? Making you sleep?"
She laughed. "Sure. I love you."
I smiled fully now, feeling her relax and fall asleep. "I love you too."
