"They're pulling up now," Kamille said. Her eyes had been glued to the rear view mirror for the past ten minutes, hoping for the plan to move forward so she could finally get Mía back.

"Let's get this show on the road," John muttered as he checked the bullets in his revolver before getting out the truck.

Kamille adjusted the cap on her head before tightening her grip on the steering wheel to calm her nerves. She wanted to distract herself with the back and forth of the windscreen wipers that were whipping the rain away, but she couldn't help but keep an eye on what was going on behind the truck.

"I'll get her back," Alicia promised from beside her, and Kamille looked at her when she rested a hand on hers. Warm, comforting, reassuring – all things the raven-haired girl couldn't grasp with her nerves eating away at her.

She swallowed the lump in her throat as Alicia offered her a small smile, before leaving the truck to follow after John, who was stood behind the truck, in front of the tailgate. He'd gladly accepted being the 'third person' to their deal, as he had the quickest draw so would have their backs if things went sideways. Sarah, Al and Morgan were scouting in the distance, a sniper focused on the raiders in case they tried something funny.

Kamille knew it was all taken care of, but she still couldn't help but be on edge.

Despite it being midday, the weather was atrocious, with cold rain smacking the ground all around and grey clouds smudging the sky, making it seem darker than it was. Because of that, Kamille squinted a little when the truck behind them pulled up, their headlights shining in the rear view mirror and blinding her.

She rolled down her window a little, hoping to hear the conversation that was about to take place. In the rear view mirror, she could see four people stepping out of the truck and facing John and Alicia confidently.

Two of them were holding rifles whilst the one in the middle had a holstered pistol, untouched for now. The last was Mía – thankfully unharmed, but looking confused as she was dragged out in the middle of nowhere in the pouring rain. It took every ounce of willpower for Kamille not to run outside there and then.
