~Living Quarters - October 31st - Sunday Evening~

It's been about two months since Severus and I had returned to Hogwarts. I had mainly spent my time helping around classrooms, but specifically with Potions, D.A.D.A, and Flying class.

Today in particular though, is a happy and sad day. It was Halloween, which I myself think is a fun holiday. But it has been overshadowed by the events that had occured on this specific day. October 31st is the day that Lily died. It's hard to believe that it's already been two years since her death. It felt like not too long ago I was having a butter beer with her and Severus at the three broomsticks after class.

I smiled at the thought and got up from the sofa where I had been reading to head toward the Great Hall for dinner. Severus had gone to Diagon Alley for potion ingredient refills earlier today and would probably be back soon.

The Great Hall was decorated nicely with floating Jack-o'-lanterns and the ceiling portrayed a cloudy night with a full moon. I went up to the Professor's Table and sat down. Severus wasn't here yet, which I had honestly expected.

"Happy Hallow's Eve, (Y/N). How have you been?" I turned toward the voice and saw Callaghan take his coat off before sitting down at his seat.

"Oh, Callaghan! I didn't see you there. I'm doing well, thank you for asking." I replied with a smile.

"That's good. Hey, I had planned on going to Hogsmeade for some butter beer a bit later and wanted to know if you and Severus would want to join me." Callaghan asked me while plating his food.

"I wish I could say yes, but I'm afraid I've already planned something for the night. Sorry.." I apologized.

Callaghan nodded,

"That's quite alright! I understand if you already made plans with Severus."

"Who said anything about Severus?" I asked, not know whether I had mentioned him or not.

"Oh (Y/N).. You can't seriously believe that Severus is late to dinner? The man's never late. My suspicions are that he's planned something for you as well." Callaghan responded, sounding extremely confident in what he had said.

I blushed and turned my head back toward my plate. After an awkward 10 minutes, I was finally able to leave. I was curious to see if Severus was back yet, so I went to our room. Upon entering the room, I noticed Severus was sitting on the sofa reading a book.

"Watcha readin'?" I asked, sitting down next to him and resting my head on his shoulder.

"A potions manual I purchased earlier today." Severus replied monotonously.

"Sounds riveting." I said with a sarcastic tinge.

Severus sighed and looked at me. I just stared right back, as if challenging him to a stare off.

"You want to ask me something. I can tell." Severus stated before standing up off the couch.

"Yeah, I do actually. I wanted to know, if you'd like to go on a little walk with me somewhere." I said, standing up as well and following him into the kitchen area.

"And where might this somewhere be?" He asked me.

"Secret." I smiled cheekily at him.

Severus wasn't having it. It seemed like the last thing he wanted to do was go somewhere.

"Please?" I pleaded.

Severus furrowed his brows, sighed, and nodded slightly in response.

"Great, I'm going to grab my coat, then I'll apparate us there." I said before disappearing into the bedroom.

We walked all the way to the gates of Hogwarts. Then, I stuck my hand out to Severus, who looked at it a while before taking it. I then thought long and hard about the place we were going to.

~???~

As soon as we had stopped spinning, I looked around to make sure we were in the right place. And sure enough, we were. I looked over at Severus who seemed a bit upset.

"Why did you take me here." He asked with a slightly demanding tone.

"I knew you wouldn't come here willingly, so I had to keep it a secret. But now that we are here, I wanted to visit a specific place." I responded.

"No. I refuse." Severus stayed still with his arms crossed in front of him.

"You look like a toddler that's about to throw a tantrum. Please, just.. just do it for me?" I attempted to persuade him.

He stood there for a moment, contemplating his choices before reluctantly agreeing,

"Fine."

I gently took Severus' hand and reassuringly squeezed it before leading him into the Cemetery.

The further we walked in, the more hesitant Severus was to keep going. But within a couple seconds we had reached our destination.

Lily and James' grave.

I turned to Severus and saw his blank expression. I couldn't tell what he was feeling,

"Severus? Are you alright?" I asked and pulled lightly on his hand.

"Yes. I thought I'd feel anger or sadness coming here, but I don't feel any of it." Severus responded and turned his head to face me.

I smiled in relief,

"I'm glad to hear that, Sev."

We stayed for a couple minutes in a comfortable silence before deciding to take a walk around Godric's Hollow. It was nice to be here again. I'd rarely visited the place when I was younger, so coming back revived old memories.

As we were walking however, I pondered on something and spoke up,

"Hey.. I'm sorry for having ambushed you with this visit. Not that I think about it, it was rather cruel.."

Severus squeezed my hand, which he had already been holding as well walked,

"It's alright. It seems I truly needed this in the end."

"Yeah.. but that doesn't justify it. I won't do that again if there's a possibility it might upset you." I assured him.

"That is kind of you." Severus seemed genuinely touched by my words.

We continued our walk in comfortable silence, enjoying the night and our surroundings.

Soon, we circled back around to where we had first started and decided it was time to go back to Hogwarts.

~Living Quarters - October 31st - Sunday Night~

As soon as we were back in our room, I sat down on the sofa with a sigh. It was much warmer in here than the dungeons themselves.

Severus was in the kitchen making warm drinks which I believed to be hot chocolate based on the smell. He brought both mugs over a few minutes later and sat down next to me. I took one of the mugs from him and took a sip.

"Mm. This is good." I stated before taking another sip.

"I'd have hoped so." Severus replied.

In the time that it took to finish the drinks, Severus and I had finished the daily crossword puzzle. I then took both mugs to the sink.

"(Y/N)." Severus called from the sofa.

"Hm?" I hummed in return as I walked back over.

"Thank you for taking me there. I feel as though I have rid myself of years worth of sorrow." Severus gave me a small smile.

I smiled back and placed a kiss on his cheek,

"I'm glad I could help with that."

Severus returned the favor and replied,

"As am I."
