"So... why did you want to stay?" I ask nervously. "I thought- once you made up with your family- you'd want to- you know, go back with them or something..." I look away, then back at him, drumming my fingers on the steering wheel.
"Um- yeah- I did initially... But I guess, you guys... just grew on me, ya know?"
I nod slightly, unbuckling my seatbelt as we pull into the driveway. "Yeah..."
"You guys are, like, my best friends..." He smiles, hand playing with the loose hairs at the back of his neck again.
"Oh... Yeah..." I feel my heart sink as I step out of the car, heading up the driveway. And trying to ignore. The feeling of disappointment in my heart.
Sorry this chapter was so short, guys. I really would've made it longer... Except it switches POVs for the next pt & I don't like changing POVs in the middle of a chapter (it makes things more confusing). So... I'll just start a new chapter for the next pt... Sorry :/
