Chapter 33- Ash

I couldn't help... Feeling kinda sad as the day came to a close. I wasn't ready for Linh to leave. I mean... I know it was kinda selfish to think this, but I'd... really miss him. Probably a pretty childish thought. I'd still see him every day... We just wouldn't spend as much time together... It's not like he was leaving forever...

But, I don't know... I just couldn't help feeling kinda sad... & uneasy.

"You doing ok?" Linh asks, raising his eyebrows as he looks my way from his end of the couch late that night.

"Yeah..." I scratch my neck nervously. "I just... I'm worried about tomorrow..."

He tilts his head to the side. "About me going off to school?" I nod. He laughs goodnaturedly. "It kinda seems like you're more nervous about it than I am!"

I chuckle nervously. "I guess!... I don't know... I just... I'm gonna miss you..." I look up slowly to see him blushing. I smile slightly.

He raises his eyebrows. "Really?"

I laugh softly. "Of course. I don't know why you're so surprised. I've told you before. You're... really special to me... I... care about you..." I look away, then back in his direction.

He blushes, a small smile on his lips. He leans forward slightly as I gaze into his dark brown eyes. A piece of hair falls in front of his left eye, & I carefully brush it back behind his ear. He looks away, face slightly pink. I clear my throat.

"You... should go to bed... You've got school tomorrow..." I slowly get up from the couch, hesitant to distance myself from him, but knowing it's a good idea. Before I get my heart broken again.

How's the bk so far? Is it slow-burn enough (lol)? Sorry if you wanted them to kiss already... I've always been terrible at writing romances bc I ship my characters so much that I have them getting together too soon... Tell me if this pace is ok. Is it too fast/too slow? I really need advice on this. I'm terrible at things at this... I mean, I'm terrible at a lot of things, but especially this :D
