Three Years Ago

Hope's POV: I sniffed, wiping at my eyes as I walked into the grill and sat down in an empty booth. Rubbing my eyes, I looked up as a loud set of laughter echoed around the building, causing me to roll my eyes at the table in the back.

So much for my quiet night.

I shook my head in disapproval as I watched Penelope cheer on Kaleb and Mg as they threw back glasses of alcohol.

I sighed, laying my head on the table tiredly as the door swung open before a young blonde walked through the door holding her stomach.

Who's she?

Is she new here?

I watched her look around before sitting down at a booth in across from me. I looked over the girl curiously before noticing Mg stumbling his way over, causing me to shake my head in disappointment.

This is not gonna end well.

Penelope's POV: I shook my head as Mg and Kaleb gulped down four glasses of whiskey. I grinned, taking a sip from my coffee as Mg handed over ten bucks. "Okay. You won. Fair and square", Mg huffed, crossing his arms before the door opened behind us, signaling someone new entering the Grille.

"Dude", Kaleb whispered, elbowing Mg in the arm suggestively, causing me to turn my head to spot a young blonde sitting down at a booth.

"Twenty bucks says I can land a date", Mg smiled with a spark in his eyes.

I bit my lip to keep myself from laughing as he eyed the girl excitedly.

Poor boy was already in love.

"Thirty", Kaleb bet.

"Deal", he answered eagerly. "Peez", he called, wanting me to help him out as I rolled my eyes.

"Fine, but it's your funeral", I warned him jokingly before watching him get up from the booth and make his way over.

"He's gonna strike out isn't he", Kaleb asked

"Big time", I winced, watching my friend sit across from her as she looked up at him in confusion.

Lizzie's POV: I held my stomach hungrily as I made my way inside the Mystic Grille and took a seat. Digging into my pockets, I pulled out a dollar and some change.

As if this day couldn't get worse.

"Is this seat taken", someone asked, causing me to look up as a young man sat in front of me.

I stand corrected.

"It is now", I pointed out as he laughed slightly.

"First time in Mystic Falls", he asked innocently, causing me to look him over curiously.

What was his game? When men walked up to you back home, it surely wasn't to listen to you talk. I've met my fair share of men like that.

"I'm Milton", he smiled, holding his hand out. "But my friends call me Mg", he added as I took his hand hesitantly.

"Lizzie", I greeted as he shook my hand eagerly, causing me to yank my yank away anxiously. "So what do you do here, Milton", I asked, clearing my throat as he pouted at the use of his full name.

"A police officer", he told me nervously. "Not really much of a job here though. Mystic Falls is a quiet place. Nothing bad really happens here", he added as I nodded thoughtfully.
